What do you think... Do you consider a rookie card that is bought back, signed, and re-released in a new pack is still a rookie card?

That's a good question. I guess the true nature of the card would be the autograph at that point; and the autograph would not have happened in the "rookie" year.

I guess my short answer is no.

Yes.Its still the same card just signed. If the company reprinted the card and had it signed then no I wouldnt consider it a rookie card but thats not the case here.

I consider them to be. In most cases, I would rather have a buyback than a player's true autographed rc because buybacks tend to be more limited and on card.

The only reason I say "no" is because a lot of the time the card companies will add a sticker or some sort of authentication. It doesn't really change the card, but it is an official alteration.

I don't know, I mean, I guess they still are, but it doesn't seem like it to me.

I personally think a RC auto buyback is a RC. I will take all I can get my hands on. I understand that an IP auto on a card would decrease the value of the card. However, I think a buyback from the card company that is packed out is legit - you got the actual RC and an auto that is authenticated by the card manufacturer. But hive's point is well taken. If the auto is on card, then great. If it is a lousy sticker, then it is an alteration of the card - and an ugly one at that.

I believe we will see more of the buybacks in the future due to the success of the Aflac autos in 2008 BDPP. The Aflac buybacks have proven to be very effective in offsetting Razor's entry into the hobby.

I thought 2006 Bowman Originals was a brilliant concept but a lot of the names on the checklist were weak. I would like to see that brand come back again.

Ive never seen a buyback with a sticker auto on it.Not doubting it exists but I just have never seen one.

Not to mention probably the most faked set of all time.

NO. It is not being issued to the public in the same year. Also, it is altered from its original state and if you looked it up in a Beckett it wouldn't be listed under the rookie year.

It is still the original card just altered. So technically it is a rookie card that has been altered.

I'd still consider them RCs.
