From someone who isnt a Braves fan......YES he is in......if nothing else, to be arguably the best player on one of the better dynasties baseball has had over a 10 year span.......look at his numbers in the nineties........and though his production dropped, still puts up All-Star type numbers...

Also, defensively he was pretty damn solid as well....

That and he's a switch-hitter. Or is that what you were talking about? I thought you meant 3B.

and no, not just speaking as a braves fan

If that is the case, would you say that Thome is a lock?

I would put Jim Thome in

but you have to consider chippers position premium

Without a doubt Thome is a lock for the HOF....

I agree but there is more than just a few who disagree.....

That is fine, let them....I dont expect everyone to agree on everything, just like people will say Chipper isnt in.....but right now 500 HRs get you in...and to the poster that says Thome and steroids.....

I will say the same thing about Thome that I did Pujols, Frank Thomas, Griffey, Fred McGriff, David Ortiz and Manny..........just because you are bigger or can hit a ball better does not mean you are automatically a steroid user, there are some guys out there who are not.....and I am one that doesnt really care whether a player used or not, I think it is more impressive that these guys didnt use and are pounding balls off of pitchers that have and outperforming the users. None of the above players have EVER been associated with steroids, not in the Mitchell Report, not the 300 listed players, not in any report that was true....

Pujols was leaked falsely, and personally if I was him I would have sued the people that falsely accused him, because he was/is still very upset about that. In fact, this spring was his first real interview he has let the media have since that incident.

Except for his extra-marital affair early in his career, there is no obvious blemishes that really might hold him back, unless someone has a picture of him shooting up with Jose Canseco.

Chipper can retire now and be a lock.

He is the George Brett of the 90s-00s Braves.

I would think Thome is a lock as well - though he became more of a one-dimensional first base/DH type as injuries piled up.

Like Chipper there are generally no steroid/PED whispers about Thome and since the media respects both of them so much, it kind of gets sickening.
