didnt read all 6 pages but yes, i bend the bill to be round. i tried on the cap once with the flat bill? looked ridiculous. lol!

here's a tip

when you purchase a new baseball cap, the fitted ones from new era?

turn on hot water and let it fill up

dunk the new cap (all stickers off!!! that's another thing i dont get, btw)

give it about 30 seconds

while the cap's dripping with water (and a little hot), put the cap on

when it conforms to you headshape in about a minute or two, take it off

let it airdry a full day

wa-la!

perfectly shaped caps for any shaped heads. lol! been doing this since like 91 or 92.

oh, and buy 1/4 size bigger since it'll shrink a little bit

I'm with you Brian...I think we are just getting older ::facepalm::  I remember when the better the curve the better the hat. I still use my "perfect bill shaper" plastic thingy that works GREAT to this day :D

thumbs up

I feel so much better knowing its not just me. I mean, to each his own, but I used to not be able to stand having a bill that was flat. I used to buy the New Era 5950 hats and couldn't wait to get the bill just right with the perfect curve. Maybe the kids are more focused on baseball than the look of a hat but still, I have noticed that over the past few years, more and more kids are not curving them but wearing them more like a rapper in a video. Hmmm................

I saw it too... I also notice that many asian countries (in past years, I didn't see it too much this year) they basically fold the bills in half...

I don't wear fits but if I did, I would curl it.

For me my head almost forces me to curve. I have a huge melon and flat looks odd. My wife hates on me all the time. Then when I drink for some reason it slides a little to the left so its not on straight. The hat big enough to go over the ears, well it can't happen for me. A size 8 won't even slide over... it sucks cause I'd wear the crap out of it

I used to bend all my hat bills perfectly, but these new New Era hats suck - they're VERY tough to break in. The best I can manage is a SLIGHT bend in the brim, and that's after leaving it rubber banded for days, etc. The water trick almost works TOO good - it bends to the point of no return. Literally. You can't 'unbend' them if it goes too far. I wish they'd bring back the style of a few years ago.

I think some of it has to do with the change from wool to whatever they are now.

Something else I just thought about. I know my dad made fun of us in LL for curving the bill. I guess in the 50's and 60's they wore it more flat when he played. Not sure if it was as flat as today, but it's just a fad.

It's exactly that... I was just too lazy to look up the differing materials! They don't shrink, at least not nearly as much as they used to. Sucks.

Yeah, I hope they go back to wool at some point too. I wonder if the players think the same thing? If they do, we might see a change.

I have to admit, I do leave teh small MLB Authentic hologram stickers on the underside of my bill. I don't know why but I do. Or the Officially Licensed Collegiate Sticker for my College FB and Baseball hats. But everything else has to go.

Same here. I hate the ugly gold sticker, and I have a big head so I'm not particularly fond of everyone knowing I wear a 7 3/4. There, the cat's out of the bag

I'm late to the party, but count me in as a 'curved bill' fan. I've tried rocking the flat bill and had to stop - I just didn't feel comfortable with the look.

edit: 1000 posts. yayerness
