Is the 2010 Giants staff comparible to the 90's Braves Staff

Granted that there are 3 HOFers in the Braves staff but the Giants have some great arms that could potentially be great as Lincecum is on his way to Cooperstown IMO.

I think Bumgarner will be the third ace in that rotation. Lincecum reminds me a ton of Maddux now with that changeup. Cain is a lot like Smoltz and Bumgarner is a like Avery preinjuries.

don't see it all. Lincecum dominates through his stuff, k's 2-4 more guys per 9, walks 2-3 more per nine... maddux was all control and gameplan, lincecum is also nowhere near as efficient

lincecum's changeup is also a different sort of pitch than maddux's, who if i recall correctly threw a circle change whereas lincecum's changeup is actually more like a splitter, just with a siginificant velocity difference from his fastball... both dominant pitches to be sure, but not all that comparable

and come back in 6-8 years before making comparisons to the braves rotation, 3 hall of famers, 2 300 game winners, 7 cy youngs in 8 years (of course maddux's first was with the cubs)... lincecum is certainly a star pitcher, and cain very good, but simply no way that rotation is in the same discussion right now

Yeah 15-4 2.67 is great,But i'm looking at them as a team.And that team with that kind of pitching and only winning 1 title is underachieving!

Meh. The Braves won their Division 11 times in a row because of their dominant pitching.


The Giants have won their Division 1 time in a row because of their pitching.


They have a tough staff, but it's way, way too early to even try to make this comparison right now.

I think the comparison is pretty close, remember the Braves rotation was young once too and Maddux had a Cy Young early in his career, but Timmy has two.

Maybe/hopefully a start to a great staff. The potential is obviously there, and bumgarner performing the way he is in his rookie year...
