The officail high bid is one increment over the 2nd place bid, no matter what the top bidder entered as his max bid. m***m bid $70 at 17:53:02, but was outbid by someone else i***0. Nine seconds later, he said,"I'll show this i***0 guy who's boss," and placed a bid for at least $1175 at 17:53:11. Then k***w bid $125 at 17:53:24, wasn't winning, so he said,"I'll show this m***m guy who's boss" and bid $1150. m***m's max bid was greater than that, and was pushed up the $25 increment for that price range, and he won.

And I bet k***w was breathing a sigh of relief there. Is that really a $1100 card? Didn't someone on this board get one of these for free when a dealer gave him a sealed boxtopper?

Yeah I think so, I think he was just trying to sell it for $90!

Snipes trying to make sure they win?

This is what I thought... no way this card gets paid for... watch it either get relisted or offered for $125 or something. This is why I NEVER put in a snipe for like $1,000,000 just to make sure I win because you never know who else is doing stupid snipes to make sure they win lol

Off topic (a little bit) - Am I the only person who doesn't use a sniping service :) Just curious how prevalent it is these days

It's fairly prevalent among users on this board. Overall on Ebay, it's still a small percentage of the user base based on my experience as both a buyer and seller. Personally, I use Gixen to snipe every auction I'm interested in and would recommend it to anyone. Many others on this site also use it.

I only snipe if there is no way I can live without the item. If I sniped everything, I would be in debt somewhere in the neighborhood of the national deficit.

...and the card was relisted as a $150 BIN/BO. Good thing sellers can't leave negs anymore, I guess.
