Knowing what you know now, do you take Strasburg or Trout?

I think the question is, could they have made the wrong choice?

Knowing then what they know now, I would still take Strasburg with the knowledge that I would also draft Harper in 2010.

I wonder how the Pirates feel with Tony Sanchez right now lol, Trout-McCutchen-Marte outfield would be sick.

Why? Storen was a dominant closer last year. Were they supposed to predict he was going to be out for half of this season?

The topic is 'knowing what you know now' Predicting doesn't come into it. We know Storen is injured.

Even if he wasn't, would you rather have Storen than Trout? I wouldn't.

The primary reasons they drafted Storen where they did were because 1) they had a pre-draft deal with him, as he was an unprotected pick and 2) they needed a fast-rising reliever.

I understand why they drafted Storen at the time.

But knowing what they know now, I bet they draft Trout.

If Trout turns out to be the star he is projected to be, could the Nationals afford to keep him for more than a few seasons?

Yes. They could.

Even if they couldn't resign him in four years, he's still more valuable than Storen.

This is the team that blew their *** over Jayson Werth, remember...

Exactly what I was about to say...
What they know now is that they didn't need to sign Werth if they had Trout, and that money could be used towards keeping that core.

Strasburg.

He has the best stuff I've ever seen. If he stays healthy throughout his career (which I hope he does, but i could see him messing up his arm), he has a chance to become one of the best pitchers in the last decade.

Trout is a very good player, but I don't see him becoming a once in a decade talent.

Agreed.

Once Strasburg loses his innings limit it will be a fun Cy Young race to follow between him and Kershaw.
