I've opened 3 boxes of my case of BDP.

Both the base autos I've pulled have really noticeable roller marks on the front. Who wants to bet against the rest of my base autos having roller marks...this frickin' sucks...

I plan on selling some of these, and now I'm screwed and won't catch any of the release hype for these base autos, by the time these come back from Topps.

Well, i remember back in time when my LCS got 2008 BDPP, i busted 4 boxes and the autos all had roller marks. Then the owner busted 2, same thing. He sent back the rest of the case, and we both got our autos replaced.

I won't bet you have a super, but if i have to bet, i'll bet they all have roller marks.

Just pulled Box 4 auto, a REFRACTOR with a roller mark...so I re-looked at the USA refractor auto and the other refractor auto I pulled...ALL HAVE ROLLER MARKS!!! FRACK FRACK FRACK!!!!!!!! This is the most pissed off I've been in a long time. I now think every auto I pull out of this case will have a roller mark...

(The roller marks on the refractor aren't as bad, which is why it took two looks to see it. But it's definately there.)

It seems to me that the initial hype value is already wearing off. Some autos are already less than what I thought they'd settle in at. Good luck with the rest of the case.

I know ya'll know what roller marks look like, and it doesn't really show on the refractors..but this is waht I'm dealing with.

I hate to sound like a jerk, but this is why 9.5's command a premium. All cards are not perfect straight out of the pack. Cards in better condition sell for more. It's all part of the gamble. This is no different from an ebay buyer (you in this case) wanting a refund from an ebay seller (Topps) because the raw cards that were received were not in perfect condition. The box did not say "one box of mint condition baseball cards", it said "one box of baseball cards, " which is what you got.

I know it sucks really bad though, and I have been livid when I have pulled cards that weren't in the best shape. My opinion has changed on this issue over the past few years. If you are ripping wax, you are essentially gambling, and this is part of the gamble IMO. If you just want to collect cards, buy mint singles. There are a lot of different ways to enjoy the hobby, but ripping wax is definitely a risk/reward aspect of it.

I got an auto with those kind of marks(at least they look like the same kind), so try taking a roll of soft toilet paper and rubbing it softly over the card and see if that goes away.

i disagree with that viewpoint. The manufacturer is responsible for producing cards without defect. Minor flaws are really a different animal; they can happen anywhere from shipping to when you open the pack. This is clearly caused by a roller that was either not clean, or pressing too hard. A flaw created directly by Topps in the manufacturing process is separate from a flaw that could have occurred in a secondary fashion.

haha, yeah I know I hit some good players there, but those cards are useless as they are now.

I feel for you - last year my case of BDPP had quite noticeable lines on about 98% of all the base prospect cards. Not as bad as the autos of course but I couldn't move any of the base at that time which would have helped to defray the cost of the case. I did eventually get them all replaced by Topps but it took more than 3 months and lots of pestering and I probably would have had _no_ success if not for the Topps guy that used to roam the forum here.

still pluggin' away, on box 11. It's not really too exciting, knowing the hit in each box is just going to disappoint me.

I did hit a gold refractor auto of travis harrison that I can't really call 'damaged'. Just two really faint scratches, it's sellable, if I so decide. So that was nice.

The wind is just out of my sail on this break.

I have a Travis Harrison Refractor Autograph with a 1/2" scratch just to the left of his right leg.

I wouldn't be too upset, except the fact that the scratch goes all the way down to the refractor coating. It's like having a scratch on your car versus having your car keyed.

This isn't a $2 scratch-off ticket, it's a mfg product that is supposed to be unblemished out of the package just like any other product.

You wouldn't return your microwave if it came out of the box with a big scratch across the front glass?
