Is this going to become more common?
I really cant say I blame the guy. He has his health and was very successful. He is looking out not only for himself but more importantly his family. With concussions becoming more and more relevant, even with the NFL doing everything to avoid head-to-head collisions besides removing tackling all together, do more players realize that the effects of a concussion are not worth ruining the rest of your life? One good thing I see coming out of this being a player myself, is a real emphasis on good form. Even the best players can tweak something to protect themselves and the opposing players. One guy who is a monster but is never going head first or risking his own health for the sake of being on sportscenter is David Harris. He is flying under the radar but is a PERFECT form tackler. He's never hurt because he is never in a position to hurt himself. I just want as a fan to see that same level of competition but it will be heard to appreciate it with players dropping like flies due to injury and brain trauma. Sorry for the long read but it does hit home.
