Just a few small pickups during the first few days of the month:


The Tejada is /150, so one of the easier variations from this set that has about 12 trillion variations. Almost as many as a base 2020 Topps card!

I definitely see Ruth in the photo. I have no artistic talent, so I could not do anywhere close to that, but the artist missed the boat capturing the Ruth look in my opinion. Something is just off. I think it might be the nose and eye on his right side.

back drop used for many photos of those days --- photographer shop use -dark background to make picture stand out -- i have a few pictures of my dad as boxer 1930's and several other photos

To me, the artist didn't get the eyebrows and the eye squints as true as the photo...therefor gives the Ruth kind of a Seth MacFarlane baby face. I also think for the Diamond Kings set, the canvas texture on the card also dimples the trueness of the artwork a bit. Total nitpicking...a gorgeous card and a set that would not look nearly as neat without the artist pictures.

Sorry, didn't mean to start a sh*t fest on your card. It is a nice card, as Metallicalex777 said, I did not mean to diminish the pick up. Hopefully the artwork critique is not taken personally by you as a dis on the card.

no. Not at all. I personally think the artwork is what made this set. Some are good Some bad. The scan of the card does pick up the canvas like texture which sorta distorts certain parts of the art but I have seen worse sketches of Ruth trust me. I liked this card bc of the seam on the jersey

I like the Ruth . Example i only have one picture of my mother's parents 1930 NO INFO and still haven't found their graves .So all the Ruth's are great Those taking pictures way back had to hustle to make money .
Want to see a young baseball fan SMILE ? Give them a glossy BABE RUTH card .

Nothing terribly exciting today, just some cheap stuff that I didn't have yet for some reason so they were on my 2021 top priorities list:


The Chavez is the /500 version, already had the base one, still don't have the /50. Working on the Rickey Henderson Pepsi set after I finished the McGwire one from the same time period last year. The Reddick is just the regular 2013 Gypsy Queen Mini, which was tough to find for some reason but isn't supposed to be an SP. I only need 4 other regular GQ minis for the full A's run, but they're all SP's 2014-2016.

Another real mix of stuff today but some nicer ones along with the cheapies:


Love the 2001 Elite Status/Aspirations cards and the Giambi is pretty low numbered, 03/16. The Zito X-Fractor is /99. I'm whittling down my 2001 Gold Label Award Ceremony Relics A's needs, I think I'm down to just needing a Canseco bat card. Luzardo was $20 plus shipping, which I thought was a decent price for a Blue Refractor auto RC of him...I think that's about what I paid for his base Chrome RC auto when the set first came out. The Boggs Red Sox Leaders card knocks me down to 2 remaining team leaders cards needed for my '88 Topps set: Blue Jays (signed by Fred McGriff or George Bell) and Orioles (signed by Eddie Murray or Cal Ripken Jr., oy).

I actually picked up my first Clemens card in 5 years will scan in the next few days. I sold a few cards over Xmas that paid for most of it , plus ebay bucks = all $4.38 of it. Think my out of pocket was $12. 50 or so.
