SO how about some real baseball talk in regards to this trade?

Will Montero bat 3rd or 4th?

I'm thinking Ichiro, Ackley, Montero, Gutierrez, Olivo,,,,,then 4 other guys i can't think of right now.

It sounds like the M's are going to give Montero a run at catcher and see how it turns out, if thats the case...

1. Ichiro RF
2. Ackley 2B
3. Montero C
4. Smoak 1B
5. Carp DH
6. Casper Wells LF
7. Kyle Seager 3B
8. Gutierrez CF
9. Brendan Ryan SS

That's a significant improvement from the past few seasons...

Rotation,

Felix, Vargas, Noesi, Hisashi Iwakuma, and either Paxton, Hultzen, Furbish or Beaven.

DUH! Can't believe i couldnt think of Smoak. That's a pretty decent lineup. Any help coming from AA or AAA soon?

Nick Franklin could get a call up.

The Mariners need to play Montero at catcher if they can. Defense at catcher is important, but can be a little overrated. If he ends up being a good but not great bat at catcher, they'll still have a nice positional hitting advantage on just about every team. I doubt his defense will be so horrid as to negate his offensive production. I personally don't think he's as bad as some people think behind the plate. Unless he's lazy and/or stupid, he'll learn how to call a decent game for his pitchers and improve some of his fundamentals.

Nick Franklin & Vinnie Catricala should probably be up at sometime this season. Some people question why the M's moved Pineda, but offense was just in dire need. They have a STRONG young nucleus right now on offense & defense in the system.

25 and under
Pitching: Felix Hernandez, Taijuan Walker, Danny Hultzen & James Paxton
Batting: Ackley, Smoak & Montero.

It's tough moving Pineda as his ceiling is high, but the M's simply cannot attract a FA hitter w/ power right now so adding Montero with 6 years of control was the best move. Either way, the M's will be exciting to watch this year. Hopefully no more 1-0 losses lol

YANKEES TAKING A HUGE RISK SIGNING MICHAEL PINEDA. GUY IS NOT YOUNG, HE LOOKS LIKE HE'S 27 YEARS OLD!! AND I WOULD NOT BE SURPRISED IF HE IS. PINEDA WAS BORN IN SAN CRISTOBAL, DR. I HAVE VISITED THAT PART OF THE DOMINICAN TWICE AND WAS SHOCKED TO HEAR YOUNG BALL PLAYERS W/ FAKE/ ALTERED BIRTH CERTIFICATES

So he is now 6 years older? Really?

you obviously do not know what happens behind the scenes!! Espcially in DR...

TIMO PEREZ, Former NY Mets player - he's actually 2 - 3 years older than whats in the back of his baseball card!

This is from a CREDIBLE SOURCE! He lives in San Cristobal....

NOW GO BACK TO YOUR CARDBOARD CASES AND SIT AND EAT THOSE NATHAN HOT DOGS!

anyone surprised??

Finally, the Fausto Carmona story… Police in the Dominican Republic say he’s been using a fake name is actually 31 years old, not 28. So, there’s that.

The Cubs should try to trade for Liddi since the M's seem so bent on playing Seager instead. Who else the Cubs going to play at third?

Didn't the Cubs trade for Ian Stewart?

Good point, forgot Stewart was a 3rd baseman.
