Rob- You don't fall into the category I mentioned. You are a Yankees fan that I like and have no problems talking to. You're level headed and easy to carry on a conversation with. JD is not. He 100% falls into the 80% category I mentioned.

Johan- I'm not comparing the seasons. So what the baseball season is longer? I was just putting the dollar amount into perspective. It's not like there's another professional baseball league to use their dollar amounts to compare to. So I simply used the other 3 major sports in the United States. I wasn't saying that the Yankees are bad for spending the money they do. I didn't say they did anything wrong. I was just showing how much the Yankees spend. I did not compare MLB to any of those other sports.

I wil be called a Yankee hater yet again for this, but it's just simple facts. The amount of money that the Yankees spend has been gone over and over again, but seriously, when a team spends $208 million and some change they should win.

Just to put that into perspective. If you add up the NFL ($127 mil), NBA ($57.7 mil), and NHL ($56.8 mil) salary caps for the 2009 or 2009-10 seasons (basketball and hockey is 2009-10 for their season) it totals $241.5 million. That is only $33 million more, or 1 Alex Rodriguez more, than the Yankees payroll for 2009. Only the Mets ($145 mil and change) and the Cubs ($134 mil and change) spent more than the NFL salary cap for this season.

The Yankees infield (Tex, Cano, Jeter, and ARod) made $81.225 million this year. That is more than the entire payroll of 15 MLB teams this season.

I am far from a Yankee hater. I neither like, nor dislike the Yankees. I dislike Yankee fans (the 80% that are arrogant, cry baby, jerks).

Those arguments are awful. The MLB season is 10 times as long as the NFL season and 2X the NBA and NHL season. That obviously means there will be MUCH more revenue for teams, meaning more money to spend.
Sorry bud. The NFL has been the biggest money maker in pro sports for years now.
Overall revenue for last season was $6 billion for the NFL and $6.2 billion for MLB.
That is a much higher per game avg. for the NFL.

Definitely a much higher per game average than MLB, but the NFL also has a much much higher ticket price average.

Couldn't find 2008 or '09 stats, but here's the high end of '07

NFL - Patriots - $118 avg. ticket price
MLB - Red Sox - $47.71 avg. ticket price

Of course, it's tough to equalize this because the Sox have 81 home games and the Pats have 8. I'm not a stats guy so I don't know what to equalize things with. Let's just say that both of these leagues make a ton of loot.

Um.....maybe because it is their choice to like the Yankees? Why do you like Miguel Cabrera? "Oh....I don't know....because he is cool."

Nice play by Rollins faking out Matsui, though it hasn't got much coverage. Now if Jeter would have made the same play, the media would be analyzing it to death and having multiple verbal orgasms.

Kind of funny to see Yankee fans fleeing the stadium before the game was over.

Damn, JD is quiet now.
So much for his more productive 2009 Yankees lineup.
Lets see the shat hit the fan when Pedro manhandles them in game 2.
