My only pull of his:

This is from set issued by the Durham bulls in 2007 to commemorate their 10th year as a AAA team. Despite being a decade old, and containing two players I collect (Gomes and Matt Diaz), I didn't have any idea it existed until it appeared on eBay a few weeks ago. The set has 20 cards, including players (and a manager) from a variety of years. The full list:

Just received Gomes's 2012 Oakland A's cap. His hats tend to be pretty cool with the inscriptions he writes inside. Here, they are "ZPG CJG xoxo 31" (initials of his daughters), and then, above an "RIP" inscription, are "APW" (Adam Westcott, high school friend who died in a car crash), "BCL" (Bob Leslie, high school baseball coach who died of mouth cancer), and "UJ" (Uncle Jim).

The first two of these showed up shortly after Triple Threads was released in 2006, but the last one took a decade to end up where it belongs. Couldn't buy it quickly enough.

Game used pickup for my 1000th post. 2010 Cincinnati Reds game used BP top:

10 years ago the Durham bulls sold off some of their inventory of game used jerseys at their store, informing fans the day in advance. I convinced my dad to ride over and check them out, and we arrived in the afternoon. The Bulls had sold their Gomes home jersey at that point, but still had the alternate/BP jersey, which we bought. Shortly thereafter the jersey showed up in someone's blog (found while searching for Gomes items on Google Images), and I've been emailing him once or twice a year since. He just got a Fulbright scholarship that's taking him to Mexico for a year, so he's now cleaning out the house...

Pretty cool to track something down after nearly a decade. Not to mention how sick this jersey is! An early MiLB Gomes piece, International League 125th anniversary patch, flag patch, and the seller even got it signed in 2009 at a Cubs/Reds game.

Never had a batting helmet, until now! It's from his 2015 stint with the Braves, and is one of only three Gomes helmets I've seen sold. This thing is pounded with use, and covered in pine tar. It also makes you realize why players can get messed up by being plunked on the helmet---it's really just a thin shell of plastic with minimal inside padding.

2012 Update is 37/61, 2014 Update is 30/63.

That's a pretty set. It's also Gomes's last card; he had a couple 1/1s in 2017 and a card from his Japanese team in 2016, but otherwise his last slate of regular cards came in 2015. I have around 10 of the purple /150s, almost as many of the silver /25s, and a few of the blue /25s. Have never seen the gold 1/1.
