I always enjoyed watching him pitch. And just hearing his name always made me think about his wife's huge cans. And that made me smile.

So anytime I'd think of Lima, I'd think of ****. And that's a great thing.

When I was little kid we would go to the vet. We always were able to get right on to the field since nobody was ever there(this was mostly on week nights to so there was like a 1000 people there). I was pretty young but I remember Jose being a great guy. At the time he was pretty big and took the time to come over and take pictures and talk with us. I have to look for that picture now. Sad to see him pass so young.

is it wrong to sell a signed ball of him?

Probably just a waste of a listing. They'll be plenty of others listed and you'll be competing with them. If it's an IP auto, I'd just keep it for the memory.

Some people find that tacky, but who really cares. You didn't know the guy, so what is it to you. Use a respectful description that celebrates his life and commemorates his career.

My brother played blackjack at the same table as Lima in a Detroit casino. Said he was as nice as could be. My brother said he only played about a half an hour until his phone rang. Lima stood up and said, "Wifey calling, gotta go." Always seemed like a great guy on the Jim Rome radio show. Really sad to see him go! Hope Rome kept that 20 win game ball!

BUSTED!

Was supposed to be out getting milk and bread.

Thing is, it was a road trip! I was suprised to hear his wife would have been in Detroit at the time. He pitched for Houston I believe at the time. He did have 2 stints for the Tigers, but when my brother met him he was not a Tiger.

I would say his best performance came against the Cardinals in the 2004 NLDS when he was with the Dodgers. I believe the Cardinals won that series 3 games to 1. Lima was the only reason the Dodgers didn't get swept. He threw a complete game shutout, not sure of his WHIP, SO, BB, H, etc.

Correct me if I'm wrong, the series could've gone 5 games....

Rest in Peace. My certified Lima auto:

Kinda eerie that this is the only non-Japanese autograph that I own that isn't a Padre.

That is a great looking auto. RIP. He had a couple great years in 98 and 99 with the stros.

Yeah, he always seemed like one of those guys who was just leading a happy life. I remember reading about him in Tuff Stuff or Sportscards, something like a 'top 100 rookies of 1992' type of article way back. I do remember Jim Thome was ranked #1, and Ted Wood #7, but I digress. I'm 39 and that certainly puts into perspective for me just how young he was.

Yes he did, & if nothing else his personality will definitely be missed (I'm not saying there is nothing else to miss about him, just that he had a great personality & always seemed to be cracking up or making other's laugh). I can't get his Case Ole' commercial out of my head, when he was here in Houston (& even after he left) they recorded a Case Ole' commercial & constantly aired it...He was dancing around a Case Ole' restraunt with one of those huge sumbrero's on, singing: "Case Ole'...(chorus: "Ole")...Fresh To-Day..("Ole")...Every-Day...("Ole")...Casa- Ole'..("Ole")! I'm telling you, it's one of those frickin song's/beat's that you can't get out of your head! :P

I'd expect it's more related to poor diet, exercise, and health.

Somehow I highly doubt that will be the case. There's gonna be more to it than that.
