Wow. Another deal I didn't see coming. He and Trout will be a dominant duo in the OF.

Angels To Sign Josh Hamilton
By Ben Nicholson-Smith [December 13 at 1:22pm CST]

For the second time in as many offseasons, the Angels have signed the top free agent position player to a surprising long-term contract. The Angels have agreed to sign Josh Hamilton to a five-year deal, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports (on Twitter). Moye Sports Associates represents Hamilton, the top free agent position player available.

To the surprise of many, the Angels signed Albert Pujols to a ten-year deal at last year's Winter Meetings. One year later, owner Arte Moreno and GM Jerry Dipoto have struck again, luring Hamilton away from their division rival and adding him to a lineup that already includes Pujols and Mike Trout.

Hamilton received and turned down a qualifying offer from the Rangers, which means he'll be linked to draft pick compensation. The Rangers will obtain a compensatory selection for losing Hamilton, and the Angels will have to surrender their top pick (#22 overall) in 2013.

Angels in serious negotiations with hamilton

I didn't see this coming. If they signed him, they must be talking trade with trumbo, kendry, bourjos, wells going somewhere for a pitcher.

Being reported by buster olney.

Jaypers beat me to the punch. I hate that guy. Just because he is a bowman scout, he thinks he knows everything.

"The deal with the Moye Sports Associates client is not quite done, Brown adds. Joe McDonnell of FoxSportsWest.com first reported that the Angels were involved in serious talks with Hamilton (Twitter link)."

You beat me to it. I was probably typing at the same time. I made a joke in my thread. I hope you see the humor. I'd like josh, if the angels would then trade guys for pitching. Any of trumbo, bourjos, kendry, wells, could be used.

What ya think??

Well, the Angels couldn't buy a title last year. Does Hamilton pitch for them then, if he signs ?

If this goes through, I bet Bourjos will be going bye bye. Just a feeling.

Quite a few teams failed in buying a ring the last few years. Im guessing, if this is true, 2 of trumbo, kendry, bourjos are very close to being traded for a pitcher, so josh can save his arm.

If they want good pitching in return, it has to be more than Bourjos and his .301 career OBP.

bourjos put up solid numbers the year b4, and I think that's the player he is. Last year sciscioa messed with him, he was in and out of the lineup and could never get going. I'm sure plenty of teams, could use a bourjos. Kendry, bourjos, trumbo are all pretty solid trade bait.

I'm not a Rangers fan, but I kinda wished he stayed with them. It's better for baseball and he was kinda the face of the team.

Deals like the Angels and Dodgers have been completing are not good for baseball in general.

Hamilton and Pujols hitting in the 3 and 4 hole are going to have a season like Manny and Ortiz. That's a tough lineup.
