July Group Submission Thread (BGS)

Hey Guys,

Gilmo told us he'd let us know the moment they arrived & the moment he ships them to us. I believe him, so if he hasn't posted, than the cards aren't there. I don't chime in too much here because I've busy with work, but from what I read you guys need to cut Gilmo some slack. I'm guessing there's no September sub because of A) The hassle BGS has been & B) The hassle a lot of the members have been. If you think it will be easier without the sub group & Gilmo than just do it yourself. I'll warn you though, it'll be way more expensive. I just did the September "20 Day Sub Deal" & it cost $60 more than here for 15 cards, plus I don't have the pull with the BGS reps like Gilmo does with the shop/website. So maybe we should all ease up a bit before he decides to cancel the sub for good. Just my 2 cents.

Gilmo, I'd like to take this opportunity to say thanks for all your hard work. Also, you should never take a loss on the group sub, if that happens again & I'm involved, let me know & I'll chip in some more (maybe others would too).

Yeah, same here Gilmo. I don't mind at all chipping in if the sub runs into the red, whatever it is it will still be worth it!

I want to start off by saying I do appretiate the discount I get with my subs. But should I have to sacrifice good customer service for it? Do you guys cut Topps some slack when they fall behind and have to offer up a XXXXty CL or use redemptions? Hell no you dont. Dont forget FCB is a business. I do "tip" with the occasional paying PP gift for my subs. When I lose $ in my business, no one bails me out. If they lose enough $ or they grow tired, they will stop the group subs. Keeping my 2 cents.

Its really not that hard to say.

All cards received
All cards shipped to BGS (tracking provide)
All cards delivered to BGS
All cards received from BGS
All cards or some shipped out.

I do appreciate the work and effort that is put into the sub and will to work with him if he takes a lose. Actually already told him I do not want any money back from my 10 day June sub that still have not been graded.

Also if there is no September Sub I wish that would of been communicated as well. I was waiting for it and if there was not going to be any I would of send some cards in the SCF BGS sub that ended on the 14th. I will be disappointed if there is not a September Sub as expect.

Your questions are all reasonable and ones that you should expect to have answers to.


With that said, with the way these two subs have gone, why would you want to participate in the september sub if there was to be one?


Seems like there's work to do before you would want to be involved.

You guys are welcome to your opinion, but what it comes down to is either you trust Gilmo or you don't. If you trust him, why do you need up to the minute updates? If you don't trust him, why would you do the sub through him? Pretty simple. This will be my last post on the subject, I don't have time for an internet board battle.

The people in this thread aren't asking for up to the minute updates....but when weeks go by, months go by, and there is not even a Tracking number for these people to know if and when their cards made it to BGS... my LCS owner just got his 10 day september 2nd sub back....there's definitely something wrong here, on FCB's end or on BGS' end.

It is not a deal breaker for me since it is an easy fix to communicate a few things. Also new members will join this sub every month and they will expect communication and their answers not to be ignored. Which means this will continue every month. I am just trying to help this sub go smoother.

Laugh. Grades 9/12 so a bicycle would have gotten them to Atlanta by now. And to the poster who stated the group sub saves him money. Good for you. The July sub will end up costing me hundreds and perhaps in excess of $1000 more than had I simply paid the market rate. Payday loan ($50), late mortgage payment ($40), late phone payment ($5), not being able to sell a few of the cards with preseason hype (estimated $100), not being able to buy new stuff for grading/resale (who knows, probably a few hundred minimum). It's bad enough I lost my $40k/year position last year and now my cardboard income is gone. And if these cards don't hit my mailbox in the next few days there are bigger problems. If a group sub cannot be professionally done like taking 38 seconds to post some basic info out of respect for the contributors then someone else should do it.

Any lack of posting on my part is not out of disrespect. It's out of a lack of time.

Someone is going to take over this sub VERY soon. August will be my last one.

It will get better.
