Re: EDIT: Kazmir Staying Put, False Alarm

He'll be the Mets LF next year.

LOL.

Even my mom called me and asked why the hell the Rays were trading Kazmir. This deal has the potential to be very bad unless they get Reckling or someone like that as a ptbnl.

On the other hand, which is more likely, if Kazmir never gets healthy again it'll be a great salary dump by the Rays. We'll see how it goes.

the angels top prospect will not be the ptbnl...chances are it will be a low A scrub or fringe prospect at best. i understand the need for pitching help but this trade disgusts me. kazmir's velocity has dropped in recent years and that is not a good sign for a player as young as he is. and to echo matt's word's...anyone need a s-load of sweeney cards ::facepalm::

IDK if we're getting Sweeney. Buster Olney reported we are ONLY getting a PTBNL

I'm not so against them trading him/the salary dump. It's just that they didn't get any quality prospects back. Neither of these guys will likely crack the Rays top 10 prospects.

Exactly! I have no problem with them trading Kazmir. It's what they got for him and the timing of it.

sweeney when healthy is a legitimate slugger and torres is a nice lefty with a nasty sinker

Ah, I should have mentioned the timing as well. Terrible timing. Surely they could have gotten an equal deal after the season.

They are still mid-level prospects.

Surely? I doubt it. This is a good return for what Kazmir is, an expensive question mark. They couldn't have gotten this much at the deadline because he wasn't pitching well, they couldn't have gotten this much in the offseason because the Angels are paying above market because they see this team as a legit WS contender and need pitching.

It's pretty funny that the fans of both teams seem to be upset for the most part. We got screwed! You got screwed? You screwed us!

Torres was just on the hot sheet. Remember Kazmir went through the wire and nobody claimed him...

With what we got, I would have rather waited until after the season and gotten less.

This deal is completely fine with me if come winter meetings the name Roy Halladay and Rays come together... granted they could have probably traded him at the winter meetings too, but i guess it isn't such a bad thing to have Davis up to start, but in the middle of a playoffs race it just baffles me. good luck to us winning the wild card with Shields and Garza who both suck this year and 3 rookie pitchers... 1 (Neimann) who could be in the running for ROY and is having a decent year, 2 (Price) Sucks right now, enough said, and 3 (Davis) a guy who will be making his debut and pitching in BIG, WIN NEEDED games. Right now Neimann is our ace and he may be the ace if kaz were still here but he is not a guy you can rely on down the stretch. We needed kazmir to mentor guys like Neimann and Price down the stretch during a playoff race. Now that guy is gone
