Every list will have some odd, disagreeable rankings...but man.

Heyward isn't even close to #3. Even if he gets back on track, there are just too many other guys that are superior to him.

How is Kershaw not higher with what he has already accomplished and how young he still is.

I know Andrus has a good glove, but there's no way he should be as high as he is.

Some of his writeups make him look like he has no idea what he's even talking about. Stanton hit .290 with 37 homers in 2012 and he says he's going to need to change his approach or get lucky if he wants to be more valuable than a mediocre hitter with power..his average would have put him in the top 20 in the league had he had enough at bats.

Do you think he even researches before he writes his articles or is he just pulling things out of his ass?

It's rather cynical to read this as a negative "The flip side of this is that he's probably maxed out his current skill set, meaning he'll be a 45-50 homer guy going forward but would need a lot of luck or a change in his approach to improve off his still-valuable pace in 2012."

All he is saying is that he has enough experience that what he's been so far is probably the max of his talent. Nowhere does it say he is mediocre or bad. It says he is valuable, but if he were to improve off of this pace, he would have to change something in his game or have a high luck (BABIP) season.

Additionally, if OP would have posted the entire article, the rankings are based off who he would take on a team going forward from 2013 and on and he consciously weighs hitter ahead of pitchers due to the increased injury risk.

These are just discussion pieces and I am sure there are very fine gaps between many spots and probably a lot of interchangeable spots.

I actually read his comments on Stanton to be a positive as he basically said the guy reached his ceiling at a very young age whereas most guys don't until at least 25 or so. He thinks Heyward still hasn't reached his ceiling. All players obviously have them and Stanton just hit his really quick. Which is impressive IMO. The difference between #3 and #4 on a list like this is just splitting hairs.

And Law attends and watches as many or more games than just about anyone who covers it.

Keith Law is now, and always has been, 25% anaylsis, 25% guessing, 25% agenda and 25% ego.
