They are now 7-day auctions at .99 let it rip... They list starting tonight at 6 CST....

We will list 3 of each card in this manner...
We will then continue to list auctions for more popular cards and do buy it nows for the remaninder on cards with less demand... BG

Brian,

If the intention was to allow team/player collector a crack at these, rather than having prospectors buying them all up, this doesn't seem like the route to do so. I was really looking forward to adding the Pirates to my collection, and now these will presumably go well above what I'm willing to spend. This is an incredibly disappointing decision, and I likely won't be going after these cards now.

Cards will be priced very inexpensively and all players will be available via Buy-It-Now, except Ichiro Suzuki who will be sold via auction format. ALL AVAILABLE CARDS WILL BE LISTED AT ONCE AND IT WILL BE FIRST COME FIRST SERVED..

Why the change of heart? Was hoping for a nice find tonight

I agree that player owned cards would be even more valuable, but the players would most probably not sell them and they would be relics rarely if not never seen.

you don't think you could have given all 60 cards to the player and then made the request that you would like to do something hobby related by asking for 5-10 of those cards back to sell them on ebay?

I could see listing them on ebay something like "Trevor Bauer appreciates his fans so much that he has given Leaf the opportunity to sell 5-10 cards from his personal allocation. ..."

That would be too funny. That would be a great Duckies and Bunnies auction.

Agree. In fact here is the quote from the Leaf FB page: "Cards will be priced very inexpensively and all players will be available via Buy-It-Now, except Ichiro Suzuki who will be sold via auction format. ALL AVAILABLE CARDS WILL BE LISTED AT ONCE AND IT WILL BE FIRST COME FIRST SERVED.."

Edit: Hmmm...that was redundant. :benson:

Anyway, on FCB and FB we were lead to believe they would be BINs.

To clarify my position...If I were selling these in bulk, I would also do the .99 auction route. I am just bummed that they are not the BIN they were claimed to be....its all about expectation management...

if there were simple BINs, one person could buy them all and charge whatever they like for them

Seriously? Whining because he let the market price them instead of selling them to you for 10 cents on the dollar? Why do you deserve them more than someone that's willing/able to pay more? Contrary to what you seem to believe, you aren't better or more deserving than those that you typecast, incorrectly in some cases, as being "prospectors".

This is tough... we were going to BIN them, but at the prices we had in mind, I can assure you the best guys would have been 1-click and someone takes all 25...

This way, if you want ti, you can make sure you get it...

I agree conceptually...
I am not sure that would have worked/happened...

Actually, I am not driven by maximizing dollars on these...
I was going to price these very inexpensively....
But, eBay doesnt have a way to limit to one per person, so they would have been hoarded up a collectors frustrated when that buyer guaged them...

There are 20+ of every player... Its not like its one card and done... BG

On facebook, and in the Thread here, we commented underneath that we would probably move to auction as numerous collectors pointed out at that hoarding would shut out most collectors if we offered these cards BIN all 25 at once...

that must be why I haven't invested in ebay. Ebay can't figure out they can tack on an extra 10-15 cent junk fee to make a multiple BIN item auction a one-per-ebay account limit on purchases. ;)
