THere is only one player I am actively collecting from the Leaf Metal / Valiant sets. As you know, the purple refractors from both Leaf Draft and Valiant were allegedly placed in the Rookie Retro boxes.

Bigboydsportscards, on eBay, has sold at a MINIMUM 10 Valiant and 5 Metal purple refractors of the player I am looking at - 40% and 25% of the print runs -- and has a plethora of others.

Certaintly, he didn't open up that much product.

Does anyone know how one vendor can obtain that much of an alleged "rookie retro only" product?

I know of at least one person who tried to get as many Purples as possible then found out that Leaf didn't really hold any value so he dumped them.

It's not the same one listed over and over; me and one of the moderators here have won quite a few of them. I track the serial numbers. He has at last 50% of the entire purple print run over Metal and Valiant, and continues to list.

I've monitored this players cards since they were released; no one has been able to build up a portfolio of half of all released.

Well, in that case all I can say is...interesting *with a raised eyebrow*.

Is anyone genuinely surprised?

With Leaf selling some of their other cards directly to eBay sellers (the non-hobby release cards, ie paper Metal cards), I was hoping that this was not the case with some of the purple refractors.

I'd love to see Leaf come here and clear the air.

How many boxes of Rookie Retro were produced? BG is usually pretty upfront about that. Were the Metal and Valiant Purple autos supposed to only be found in Rookie Retro? To take it a step further, how many players were in Valiant and Metal? Multiple that by 25 and you'll either see a bunch of cards left over or that your grasping at straws.

How about this idea....They are all of firstclasscardguys BGS rejects? Or they just keep buying collections that include these purple refractors.

If BigBoyd is Firstclasscardguy then it makes sense. That guy busts an insane amount of Leaf products.

I don't think they are the same person, but easily could have worked out a bgs reject deal. Just an idea, and really just grasping at straws. I have wondered about how he has all of these purples as well over the last 6 weeks.

I thought BB was in Ohio? and 1stclass in Delaware?

True, firstclass was selling all of their rejects under a different ebay name, i think it was 13years11rings, or something like that. But it would make sense to just send all their rejects to a large seller like bigboyd on a consignment basis.

I'm almost certain these guys are different people - I am not saying they aren't linked in some way but they aren't the same person.

Also, firstclasscardguy I think mostly busted the hobby leaf metal product, not the rookie retro.

I am not saying its right or wrong but would you rather not see these cards at all or would you like the chance to pick them up?

I would rather not see them.My question is why didn't Brian sell them on Ebay like everything else?
