If this product costed $1,500 per box, I wouldn't be happy with it!

I honestly like these products like rookie retro for example, but isn't it purely a creative way of legalizing gambling, doing a raffle? I mean if I buy (500) cards for an average of $150 each (some worth $50, some $100, some $500, averaging out to $150) and put them in 500 boxes for $250 a box, it's creative legalized gambling! I'm not saying I don't think it's cool....In conclusion, poker rooms should be legalized in the 5 boroughs!

Not nearly as condensed though. There is a difference, perhaps blurry to some, but clear to others.

really nice product, but you're almost guaranteed to lose on this product at $1,500. I know most people who can afford $1,500 for a pack really don't care about that but what about the other 99% of the collectors out there? These "pack" prices are getting out of hand.

A few thoughts.,...

First, factory cost is not $1500.... The content is based on what we sell it for (factory cost)...
We do not dictate what dealers charge or collectors choose to pay for the product.
I believe this product has an 80-90% ROI (at factory cost) if you were to open every pack....

Secondly, you have to factory in the cost to build the product.. I don't know about 1600 Penn, but Oval Office costs nearly $100 PER CARD TO PRINT!!!!!!!
Tiny print runs with that kind of foil usage costs a mint to print! Plus, $10-100 per signature to authenticate each autograph (depending on the name)! Plus, $25-30 FOR THE NICE WOODEN DISPLAY BOXES!

I would summarize by saying "pack" prices are not getting out of hand. If we put in no value and charged a fortune, you would be correct.
But, I strongly feel the content justifies the price we charged for it wholesale.
It is the market's job to figure out the "correct" secondary price...

I couldn't agree more about this product being such a waste when looking at ROI. How many cards will break the cost of the box? The Jefferson 1/1 brought in double the box. Weak sauce if you ask me. Will be nice to see if any bring huge money... For the sake of the product I hope.

Last, props for the thread because I've been trying to track myself because I wanted to see how the value of these boxes played out ::facepalm::

I get that this is not a typical product and the autos that are in the product cost an arm and a leg, and the boxes are very, very nice. But the fact is collectors do not have access to your "factory" cost, therefore, the $1400/$1500 is a true cost to us and most of the hits aren't going to come close to that.

I'm not knocking Leaf either. Look at all the high end products (Exquisite, Five Star, NT), unless you hit that one big card, you're losing money 90% of the time. I used to bust a ton of wax, but have cut back to just a few products since I can pick up singles WAY cheaper. But as long as someone is buying it, the companies will keep producing it.

Until ebay changes the auction format with your actual bid, we will never know what the high bidder bids, only the minimum increment past the 2nd high bidders bid.
