Ohio's state income tax for 200K and over is 5.9%
NY state income tax for 20K and over 6.85%
NJ state income tax for 500K and over is 8.9%

He definitely took less to go to Miami. The other teams could have offered him a lot more than 10%

Sorry, but that's simply not how it works.

This shocking act of disloyalty from our home grown "chosen one" sends the exact opposite lesson of what we would want our children to learn. And "who" we would want them to grow-up to become.

Not to bring it back up - but this is to whoever said the Lakers weren't a super-team.
Obviously Shaq and Kobe were in their prime - but you dismissed both Malone and Payton......yes they were older, but here were their stat lines the year before. These were the numbers they were bringing to LA.

Malone - 20.6 PPG 7.8 Reb

Payton - 20.4 PPG 8.3 Ast 4.2 reb

So really- you're going to say those 2 were bums? Granted the age left them with a very small window, but you're going to say that wasn't on par with this at least for that immediate year after?

Malone contributed quite a bit until his injury in the playoffs. Payton didn't really do much that year and really disappeared in the playoffs leaving Shaq & Kobe in a lurch. Had Malone stayed healthy I think that they could have been given the Pistons all they could handle, but it didn't work out that way. I think had Minnesota went to the finals against the Pistons that year the playoffs would have been more competitive.

I could be wrong on this, but I had heard this before talking in the LCS... Pro players pay the state tax for each game they play to the state that the game is played in. So, he would only have no taxes on 50% of his salary by playing in Miami. He's still paying taxes for every road game (other than Orlando).
