Miserable? They've made the playoffs 15 of the last 16 years.

Jeter had nothing to do with it. They offered him a huge contract. He turned it down. Did you expect them to offer him anymore than they did?Sweetness said:I blame Jeter. The Yankees simply couldn't afford to overpay for Lee. Oh well... the miserable years in N.Y. will continue.
I'm not seeing this either.bigpapiMA32 said:Sweetness said:I blame Jeter. The Yankees simply couldn't afford to overpay for Lee. Oh well... the miserable years in N.Y. will continue.

Some people are speculating that he didnt like the way Cashman and Stweinbrenner treated Jeter during the negotiations. So maybe the Yankees did it to themselves.D-Lite said:I'm not seeing this either.bigpapiMA32 said:Sweetness said:I blame Jeter. The Yankees simply couldn't afford to overpay for Lee. I dont know if he would have been concerned about how they would treat him in 6 years. But for the fact that here is Derek Jeter, the heart and soul of the franchise and this is how they treat him.rymflaherty said:elmalo said:Some people are speculating that he didnt like the way Cashman and Stweinbrenner treated Jeter during the negotiations. That's kind of crazy on Lee's part then if that was the case.
Think that kind of thing is generally over-rated......as a Sox fan, I recall talk the past few years about how badly the organization treated some of the older guys/vets. How they had no problem dumping those kind of guys and whatever.....and how that could hurt them down the line. Judging by this off-season that doesn't seem to be the case.
Seems if you have a competitive team and money to offer......what's going to happen 6 years from now shouldn't be a big issue.

The Giants didn't/don't have 60MM+ a year tied up in their staff. I'm not debating the pitching/hitting effectiveness. I was just asking if Philly fans felt the money could have been spent better elsewhere. They already had a dominant staff and now have some questions on offense.
