I said before the season that I think Christian Ponder will end up being the best QB of this draft class (which hurt me to say about a Criminole), so I'm looking forward to seeing if he proves me right.

Some words of encouragement for Donovan McNabb after the benching : At least it wasn't for Rex Grossman again.

Christian Ponder is in and Donovan McNabb is out in Minnesota.

Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier has chosen Ponder as the team’s starting quarterback, Jason La Canfora of NFL Network reports.

The decision comes just six games into a season in which Frazier had insisted McNabb was his starter. But with the Vikings at 1-5 and McNabb not playing well, it was time for Minnesota to see what Ponder, this year’s first-round draft pick, could do.

The Vikings are now the third team in the last year and a half to give up on McNabb: The Eagles traded McNabb to the Redskins to make room for Kevin Kolb, the Redskins benched McNabb to make room for Rex Grossman, and now the Vikings are benching McNabb to make room for Ponder.

Given that the Eagles later jettisoned Kolb for Michael Vick, and the Redskins may bench Grossman for John Beck this week, Ponder might need to be a little worried that he’ll get benched for Joe Webb. Being McNabb’s successor hasn’t been easy the last couple years.

And being McNabb hasn’t been easy the last couple years either.

I watched him play a bit after they benched McNabb and liked what I saw. Nice crisp passes and no indecisiveness that I could tell. Hoping he does well!

While I'm excited to see what Ponder has, I'm a bit nervous about his first start coming at Lambeau. I wish Donovan would have had one more game, since he has played in that atmosphere before. Either way, it will make Sundays game that much more interesting for me!

I thought it was on the road this week. Good grief, I'm a blockhead.

I would take what you saw with a grain of salt. The bears were up huge and not playing the D that he would have seen in a game where the decision mattered.

That being said Mcnabb needs to retire he is junk!

So, they are going to throw Ponder in there with all five starters on the O-line facing injuries, going against the packers, during a home game where 75% of the crowd will favor Green Bay.

Nice planning.

yeah...sounds like the odds are stacked against him...hopefully he can rise above it though. I'm not saying I think the Vike's can win this game...but it would be nice to see the young guy have a solid performance....a couple hundered yards and a td or 2 with 1 or less turnovers.
