anybody seen any NT baseball? I was just wondering if there was a lot of unopened cases/boxes? I know this stuff has to be drying up but there are alot of cards that I need and I am hoping its still in wax and not in someones collection.Anyone see any buttons/tags/patches for sale from NT? juniorgriffey has been sending me some ( which, by the way, thank you sir)

Also since its a Chicago show I would assume there would be quite a few Nellie Fox cards for sale. If any one sees any patches/tags/buttons/barrels etc for sale of his let me know. His stuff is kinda hard to find

I saw one dealer with an entire showcase full of NT.

It was cool meetin you gellman.

You too, it sucks that this only happens once a year. So much entertainment just from the stuff Gilmo says, that alone is worth the trip.

Dennis Rodman for president anyone?

Just went one day this year since there were plenty of guys on the Saturday lineup that I wanted and some of which I had to pass on until next time (Randy Johnson, Sugar Ray Leonard, Roberto Duran, Mike Piazza).

First up was Pedro Martinez who seemed to be in good spirits

Then it was time for Bart Starr. I was ticket number #24 and didn't meet Starr until 2 hours after he was signing. He was doing free standup pics with but they eventually put a stop to it. He's just a really nice guy. I told him I respected his work with the Rawhide kids (which many of you know is the organization that he signs personalized autographs for in order to raise money). He then shared a neat story about how 7 of those kids recently returned as adults as military officers. He said when they meet these at-risk kids they are in serious trouble so that's pretty cool.

Quickly on to Bob Griese

A bit of a wait but then Sugar Shane Mosley

Shane was super friendly and talkative and was willing to do a standup pic with for free. Saved me $49 at the photo booth!

Came across these James Toney trunks on the floor at the Leaf booth. These were only $19! They also had trunks for Michael Moorer and Ray Mercer. All were part of a recent MAB show so I was thrilled to get these at this price.

Then I found a dealer who had many inexpensive PSA'd Manny Pacquiao photos. This 11x14 was just $25

Trading cards were really hot with Panini and Topps doing wrapper redemptions. My one complaint is that Tristar has a pretty lousy selection of photos and sizes. There weren't many dealers this year with photos of the attendees. Typically I plan ahead but with boxing photos being usually unlicensed I figured they'd have some there as opposed to the limited amount online. I was mistaken as they only had an 8x10 of Mosley in the Pacquiao fight which he lost. Tristar did let me pay the difference and upgrade to a premium otherwise I wouldn't have had a good option.

Sorry for some of the images being sideways. Not sure why imageshack spun them

Haha yeah they had 8x10's for $20, 11x14's for $25, and 16x20's for $30. The 16x20's were either signed in black or in a spot I didn't want so I was torn between the 11x14 I got (watch how he walks away from Ricky Hatton like he just did something casual) and a cool action shot of him unloading on Oscar De La Hoya. His stuff was really hot a year ago so I'm happy to "buy low" after the Marquez KO

I heard his auto is tough to authenticate, and he rarely signs himself. Not sure, but that rumor could have led to really low prices. Someone at the PSA booth with a bunch of Ali stuff said most of it is secretarial, and he has yet to buy one as a result.

Went to the National today, met a few at the FCB Booth! Glad to meet some on the forum, great time chatting it up live and to see faces behind the screen names.

This was my first National show and a few observations:

Lots of Vintage cards and memorabilia. When you hear stories about all the mom's who threw out their kids baseball cards and memorabilia, you gotta wonder how much was produced back then because the National floor was full of it. Im not complaining one bit though as its almost like walking through Cooperstown seeing a lot of stuff you may never get to see again.

Glad I got to see a GEM MINT 10 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle card.

And an Honus Wagner T-206 PSA 2 selling for pocket change of 1.2 million

Although I'm not a basketball fan in any way, but I do appreciate a Jordan GEM MINT 10 Rookie card.

But the main reason I went to the National was to get Cal Ripken Jr's autograph. What a GREAT guy he is. He genuinely wanted to be there and posed for pics with anyone that got an autograph.

Lots of modern cards as well. Seemed as if there were just as much football as baseball. Lots of dealers selling more basketball, golf, tennis and non-sports as well.

I didn't buy much of anything at the National, not that the budget didn't allow but a lot to see and so many choices as I wrote down what booth I wanted what from and then the next booth, my wants changed that quickly.

Thanks for letting me share and I hope I make it to next years event in Cleveland.

Another good time at the National. Picked up some HOF autos, went bargain bin diving and ended up with a pile of Michigan football autos (will scan and post on the FB board), bought a few boxes to break later, and picked up one big card (Verlander NT Majestic logo, scan coming later). And always nice to meet fellow FCBers (Pinetar, Mox, Wes, Gellman).

I just watched your Topps Q&A videos. Now although I do understand why they did what they did with the Uncirculated redemptions I don't know understand how they think they can get away from what their own redemptions state. You tell me that if a card can't be made it will be replaced with something of equal or greater value, then you send out these cards that have NO LISTED value. No to mention no listed GREATER value. The program as a whole is broken and needs to be addressed. They need to stop making redemptions first off, no redemptions means no unhappy buyers to begin with. Which means no unhappy replaced redemption receivers. . If they are going to make redemptions, then they need to be filled with that the redemption card says. There is no ifs, ands, or buts about it. The reason I say this is because if you have the intent to make a product, sell that product and fill the gaps with the correct items, then there is ZERO issue. But if you do all the same except fill the gaps but not with what you said you would, then there is a HUGE issue and the process is broken. It can't be both, this is what is pissing people off and turning them away from Topps as a whole.

I was looking forward to 2 PC cards and now I know I will not be receiving either one of them. I know you are tired of hearing it but someone in the industry/hobby has to.
