Well, I have been down a bit lately as I will be getting laid off from my job as an environmental scientist for the state of MA next week. Merry Christmas, oh and happy new year, too!
Thankfully, I still have a lot to be thankful for in my wife and new 6 month old son but needless to say things have not been very cheery heading into the holidays this year. This will make a big change in my card collecting habits as I'll have to sell stuff to cover anything I want to buy now.
However, I did get an infusion of holiday cheer from PSA with the card below. This individual card #8/25 and I have quite a history...as i missed it on the way out of a private collection a few years back, then missed it on ebay twice as the runner up bidder over the past 2 years. Of course, each time I would increase my offers but each time the price was going up! I was able to land it from FCB member HOFautos a bit ago in a sale/trade deal (Thanks Mike!), and I sent it into PSA to be slabbed to add to my collection. I was hoping for a PSA 9...but man I could not believe that it received a gem mint grade! Crazy. This is also the only PSA 10 ever graded. Just wanted to show off a new collection cornerstone:
