Well, I have been down a bit lately as I will be getting laid off from my job as an environmental scientist for the state of MA next week. Merry Christmas, oh and happy new year, too! :( Thankfully, I still have a lot to be thankful for in my wife and new 6 month old son but needless to say things have not been very cheery heading into the holidays this year. This will make a big change in my card collecting habits as I'll have to sell stuff to cover anything I want to buy now.
However, I did get an infusion of holiday cheer from PSA with the card below. This individual card #8/25 and I have quite a history...as i missed it on the way out of a private collection a few years back, then missed it on ebay twice as the runner up bidder over the past 2 years. Of course, each time I would increase my offers but each time the price was going up! I was able to land it from FCB member HOFautos a bit ago in a sale/trade deal (Thanks Mike!), and I sent it into PSA to be slabbed to add to my collection. I was hoping for a PSA 9...but man I could not believe that it received a gem mint grade! Crazy. This is also the only PSA 10 ever graded. Just wanted to show off a new collection cornerstone:

Very nice, that used to be mine as well. I just got a BGS 9.5 on my Ortiz.

Looks like it's time to update the sig, which by the way I didn't think could get any better.

Yeah I traded it to TopNotchsy as part of a package for the Jon Lester SP Authentic 1/1 RC auto.

Awesome pop, and sweet card for the Man Ram collection. Best of luck in the New Year... on the green front, my wife and I were just talking about going geothermal.

So who was the card ultimately traded for.. It would be interesting to see the trading line of this card..

So tracing the history of the card, right now it seems to go like this:

Pack > unkown/unknown date

unknown to Dave S. (drscards ebay ID), not an FCB member, had it for a long period of time

drscards to jay1065 on ebay in march 2008

jay1065 to beefycheddar on ebay? in August 2008 (sounds like this was a trade, though, with the Lester 1/1 involved? I do have a closed ebay result on the card sold by jay385bl to an unknown buyer in August 2008 so there might be a transaction missing)

beefycheddar to Topnotchsy

Topnotchsy to Hofautos

Hofautos to carrsallstars 2009

carrsallstars to PSA Dec 2009

That sounds about right. I thought I bought it right around when he got traded. I know one sold right after for more than I paid for mine as well.

Pretty interesting to chronicle. The Lester was actually the card I dealt to beefycheddar in the trade (not a straight up trade, there were more cards involved.)

NEC, what # is your red manny? 12/25? That one sold twice on the bay in late 2008, and for higher than what beefycheddar paid, as he said.

I have seen #5/25- it was sold on ebay in 2006 by teawolves. I think that one went to Japan but I could be mistaken. I also have #19/25 now which i picked up during crusade mania, so I'll probably move it this year. The other guy on ebay with a bunch of crusades, shrev, said he did not have a red Manny.

So that means #5, 8, 12, and 19 have been accounted for on the Manny red crusades. The serial #'s sure help in tracking these things.

I'll check mine when I get home.

These two Biggio crusades have been SO hard for me to find. I was outbid on them the only time they hit eBay. Haven't seen another of them for sale...ever.

Has anyone seen these or know where I can find them?
