If there's anyone that has a shot, outside of maybe Anderson Silva, of beating Machida at LHW it's Shogun.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think he'll win, but I think he has a better shot than anyone else right now.

What is it that makes you believe that it's Shogun that has the best chance to beat him?

Well, I thought I covered it in the part of my post you didn't quote. Shogun & Machida are a lot alike really. Both are good on their feet and on the ground. If Shogun can regain old form this fight could be awesome, but if Shogun v Coleman or Shogun v Griffin shows up then he'll get hammered. I guess Shogun's best chance is to take it to the ground and see if Machida's BJJ is in the same league. We haven't seen a lot of Machida's ground game other than the Sokodjou fight. Machida also has a ton of Sumo experience so getting him to the ground is easier said than done.

If Machida just threw Tito's take down attempts off like a rag doll I don't see how Shogun will have a prayer of getting him down. I do agree that if Shogun from 2 years ago shows up it should be a good fight.

Lets not forget, Tito caught Machida in a triangle in that match. Like JZWAND said, anything can happen on a given night.

(for the record, I dont see Machida ever tapping...i think he would go to sleep first. Warriors spirit in the cage.)

I still call ducking, lol.

LOL, okay, youre entitled to your opinion Sam.

Regarding Shogun, its not so much that he got old, but he had knee surgery on both knees and frankly, Pride rules are different from UFC rules.
In Pride, he could stomp and soccer kick guys forever. Same with knees to the head on the ground.
In the UFC you cant do those, but you are allowed elbows, which Pride didnt allow.

To be honest, I think Machida can be beat, but its going to be hard.
Your going to need a good gas tank, and be able to take a punch. At teh same time, your going to have to be technical in everything you do, as well as carry some good power behinid your strikes.

Odd to say, at 205 I think Anderson Silva has the best chance at beating Machida.

I still like GSP's skills against almost everyone to be honest. And as far as learning goes, he seems to pick things up overnight...

You're also talking about tito's last UFC match which he completely sandbagged.

Lyoto shouldnt even recognize that as a win it was so pathetic on tito's end. you could tell he cared less about being there and just wanted to get it over with.
