A couple recent pickups. 1993 Cooperstown Promo, 1991 Topps A*B* Variation at the bottom (haven't seen one of these before), 1997 Donruss Elite Leather and Lumber, 1996 Pacific Printing Plate. I also recently achieved the 3000 different McGwire card milestone which I was pretty excited about. Such a long way to go.....

Congrats on the Cooperstown Promo, nice pickup! I'd love to find a Rickey someday.

Looked through about 20 or so 1991 McGwires laying around. Actually had one of the A*B* cards! It does have the bold background also. Thought I would share to help establish rarity.

Do,

All came out of two boxes of 2000 Fleer Showcase I opened this weekend. :D

I'm with you. Back in the day, I could never pull any cards of Mac. Fast-forward a decade and he's really good to me.

Found another stack of '91 Topps McGwires. About 25 cards, and two were A*B*. They are short printed compared to the others, but they don't seem to be all that rare.

I probably had about 15 copies and didn't have any.

Does anybody have any idea where I could find a 1989 Leaf Blue Chip Mcgwire for sale? I know they are scarce! Also looking for 1988 Mercury News McGwire and/or any of his stat cards from games, like APBA, ASG, Persue the Pennant, etc... Please PM me

Thanks! Wess

Hehe if anybody finds the Blue Chips, they will most likely buy and keep them (preferably call me so I can :)

Jay has I believe the Leaf set (or at least some of it). I think I know who has the rest. At this point nobody has seen more than one copy of a single variant (10 total McGwire Blue Chips - 5 Donruss, 1 of each color, 5 Leaf, 1 of each color).

The Mercury News is a bit easier to find. Two have gone up for sale in the last 2 years ($100 and $50)ish. Prior to that I can't think of when I last saw one. Again, very difficult to find.

The game cards are much harder to find because they aren't something people think about selling so are stashed away in the corner of rooms.

I thought you guys might enjoy this.

Bought 7 rack packs of 1985 Topps at my local show this weekend.

FInal pack contained the following:

This was one of the highlights of my collecting career :)

I've jump ship on my '97 SPx Grand Finale set and will likely list the Mac before it's over.

Man hate to see you break up that set.

If you do end up doing this which I hope you don't, let me know about the auction when you post it. I'm in the market for one of these and haven't been spending much time on ebay lately so I don't want to miss it.

Man, that is gorgeous. I'm very jealous of that pull, can't think of a better card :)

Anyone need one of these (1994 A's Pogs Target)? I bought the sets for the Rickey sheets, and still have some of the McGwire's left over.

Thank you! I know they are practically impossible to find, but the hunt is almost as fun as the find. Speeking of which, do you know of any other sites/people that are good for finding these scarce cards? I have religiously watched Ebay for over 10 years and have never seen cards such as the Mercury News card. Hopefully I just didnt over look it! My McGwire collection consists of only his 80's cards (so far). My goal is like yours but on a smaller scale, I want every 1980's card with McGwire on it or mentioned on it. I have some of his tougher cards such as the topps cloth and a couple 1988 score proof variations. Thank you again onionring9 for any help/suggestions. Your Mac collection is second to none!

Finished the 1998 Topps Stars Luminaries Rainbow. Funny thing is, the final card to complete the set was the Bronze /100!
