Matt Kemp wants the 2011 MVP from Braun stripped. Should PED users be stripped of awards?

Agreed. It's hard to see why Kemp would even comment on this. I know he had an incredible 2011 season, but at this point in the game, why even talk about it? How about you focus on your team getting into first place with your latest win surge?

With that being said....Braun is scum.

As a Dodgers fan I totally agree... but w/ Braun being biggest story in sports he is going to be asked about it constantly. He never said HE should get the award, just that he believes it should be stripped. These are his quotes:

"Do I feel like it should be stripped? I mean, yeah, I do," Kemp said. "I feel like it should be, but that's not for me to decide, you know? That's not for me to decide."

"I was in the race for MVP and got second," he said. "The voters had their opinion of who they wanted to pick as MVP. You have to respect who they picked. It is what it is. For me, all I can worry about is getting healthy. It definitely would be nice to have an MVP trophy, but I didn't win the MVP. I was second."

Sucks for guys like Chris Davis because everyone is going to think PED's... hope he just keeps doing his thing.

Wow there sure are some idiotic posts in this thread. Why are you guys assuming Kemp is dirty? You can think he is all you want but to post it is just asinine. So he wants it stripped like it was posted he never said he wanted it. If it comes out Kemp is dirty then so be it. But posting that he might be....is ridiculous. Forfeit most of his pay because he is injured? Come on man...you collect Canseco...if anyone should forfeit anything it is HIM. So he came clean, does it make what he did any better? He never said he thought HE should get the MVP. He was asked the inevitable question, hesitated before answering (he was clearly uncomfortable with it), then tap danced a little before finally saying what he felt. He does believe Braun should forfeit the MVP, but not that if forfeited it should go to him.

I think a lot of people feel that that is implied. Maybe its not, I don't know but I can understand why some think so, its not as big of a jump in reasoning as some make it sound either. Fans on both sides be all emotional! Whether they give it to the runner up or not makes no difference to me, I wouldn't shed any tears if they stripped him of the award though it won't happen

I get where you're coming from, and I can see how people might make that jump based on reading his words. However, I don't think any reasonable person can watch the interview and come away thinking he's lobbying to receive the award. Yeah, I suppose I could be biased, but I don't think so.

Same as they do with the Heisman. I know Kemp got 2nd and had a solid year, but maybe those that voted for Braun wouldn't have voted for Kemp. So we can't say for sure he would have won it if Braun didn't.
