As far as I can tell no pitcher in the American League has received better run support per start than he, but still a awesome start with a solid 3.10 ERA, a K/BB ration of above 5/1, and holding opposition to a .190 BA.

They showed that stat during the game last night... he gets roughly 7.5 run support per game.... Verlander gets 6.5 runs... so it not just the offense that helping Scherzer.... he is doing his part.... he just isn't totally shutting down the opponent.

imagine matt harvey with that run support he gives up 1 run and gets a no decison,

Oh no, I agree he has bee pitching lights out, but even he would tell you that his W/L totals are a other than 'important' statistical measurement of personal performance. Take a look a Darvish, he has as good, if not better numbers across the board but yet he is 7-3. I guess the point I am trying to make is that the 12-0 record is embellishing his actual performance on the hill. A great statistical measurement that speaks volumes of his team play when on the mound? Sure, but one should not mistake that for personal achievement solely. There are still a handful of pitchers to be taken before him, based on performance, with lesser W/L records.

Sold that card a couple years ago for $480 :)

Great to see him doing well. He's getting the run support, but also has pretty solid numbers.

Future's bright!

With following Scherzer since he came to Detroit, I don't think anyone could have ever predicted this. He has always been lights out when he's on, but it seems he'd manage to give up 7 runs once out of every four or five starts.

This year his walks are down, his WHIP is down (still below 1.00 I believe), and his Ks are up from his career averages for each of those respective stats. Add in some great run support and it absolutely makes sense why he's 12-0.

Just to note, he had two starts where he only gave up 1 ER and took a no decision (why not 14-0!?). But he also has one start where he gave up 5 ER and got a W, and 2 starts giving up 4 ER where he got Ws. As good as he's been, there's no doubt that a lot of his record comes down to luck of when the offense produces. Impressive nonetheless.

When he was 8-0 it was ok, he's pitching well but damn he's lucky.

He's really turned it on his last 5 starts. A lot of confidence there, you can tell. He's definitely avoided that once a month blow up, is striking out more guys and knows that when he's out there the team is going to produce! He was iffy for an All-Star spot at 8-0, but he's unquestionably a lock at 12-0 and where his stats sit now.

Tigers at it again.

Scherzer has a 4-0 lead heading into the bottom of the 2nd inning. Avila 3-run HR.

13-0

With 2 more starts before the All-Star Break.... he could be 15-0.

Already incredible what he's done to get to 13-0...I'm sure he'll lose one sooner or later but I wonder how many wins he'll rack up before the season is over. Maybe 22-24?
