As crazy as it sounds I think mlb would answer yes. The individual teams, that's a different story. The truth is if your a fan of a team and they make the world series your going to watch that game regardless of where it's played and if you have the money and opportunity you'll go to a game or two. The host city gets the benefit in terms of revenue generated from people traveling to the game, staying in the hotels, eating at restaurants, etc which the city whose team makes the world series now doesn't get because it's mostly local fans and only season ticket holders who go to the game anyway. I also think it might generate more interest in the game for a non fan or fan of the host city. I mean if say the orioles and reds were playing in Yankee Stadium as a Yankee fan I'd be interested to watch and if the Yankees were playing the cardinals and the game was in San Diego I'd still watch and would probably have a better shot of getting tickets to the game then if it were at Yankee stadium. Now I'm not saying that the teams would be for this, especially the Yankees, because of the money they stand to lose in ticket sales and concessions (although I'm sure alot of small market teams might). But I think baseball has to find a way to make the world series more appealing or interesting to people who are not fans of the teams involved and should also give cities like Chicago, San Diego, Pittsburgh, etc an opportunity to get some of the financial benefits and excitement of hosting a world series.
