I know this is coming from a Braves fan, but why not pay the $3 million a year extra and get Derek Lowe. I know the extra year and age are a factor, but you can pencil in Lowe for 200 innings. Oliver has never, although he has come close twice. Oliver is also under .500 for his career. Just seems kinda odd to me.

I would've rather given Sheets the scratch than Oli. I also don't understand why they haven't made a play for Abreu yet. It sounds like it's feasible to sign him to a 1-year deal at this point, and he'd be great in the 2 hole. A career .405 OBP and 100 RBI's in each of the last 6 years, I'd like to see a year long audition, especially since I don't see Manny happening now with this Perez signing.

4 years at $60 vs 3 years at $36 is a big difference

plus, omar was said to have preferred perez over lowe so in the end, omar got what he wanted

plus, we can use that $24 on manny (get of your fanny, we want manny!)

If you do not get manny, will this off season be considered a failure and will you be screaming for Omar's head to get shipped to Latin America?

me too. risky yes, but i would rather have sheets than perez as well. johan, sheet, maine, pelfrey in the top 4 looks good to me

as for abreu.....i guess we need some pop between wright, beltran and delgado. beltran can cover extra grounds for manny in the OF but it's the bat we need

i really am hoping for manny as well. eric pretty much convinced me and it does make sense

Si.

I'm already there.

As an aside, I was watching an episode of Law & Order last night and I couldn't help but notice that the last names of 3 gang members were Minaya, Beltran and Delgado. What I'm not sure about is whether the writers were Mets fans (paying homage to their guys) or Mets haters (putting them in gangs and killing/putting away each and every one of them, haha)
