Crazy to think it was supposed to be Harper at those prices, not Trout

The way I see it, this means buy buy buy Harper. Harper's age 19 season is putting Trout's to shame. Even a slight progression next year for Harper should mean raised prices. That along with Trout outshining Harper this season, makes for great prices for Harper stuff right now and even more so in the offseason. Harper stuff could very well be at current Trout prices next season if he progresses like Trout has. Of course there are no guarantees.

I definitely understand that it's unlikely that Harper will do what Trout is doing this year, next year. But there certainly is a chance. The kid is only 19 and Trout was 19 last season and played poorly.

Trout didn't play everyday last year and was up and down from the minors to the majors. He was a part time player, give him Harper's playing time last year and I bet he blows Harper's numbers this year out. Think about it, Trout hit 5 HR's in 123 AB's in part time playing time and Harper has 8 HR's in 264 AB's.

State Farm flat out told me not to cover my collection with them because their rates are too high. They're just not set up to handle collections. I use Collectibles Insurance Services and it is much cheaper. Not cheap, just cheaper - but worth the piece of mind.

As an adjuster, I have handled some claims with cards. The reason you have to "schedule" your cards, etc is so we can value them. If you are an active trader/seller than there is no way to quantify them. That is one of the reasons they are apprehensive to cover them. There is a $2500 limit on collectibles without a general endorsement.

No homes (that I am aware of) in Florida have basements. The water table is too high.

Harper might be an exception because of all his hype so far, but it seems like guys that take a year or two to reach their potential have a much tougher time seeing the explosion in prices that Trout has. Look at McCutchen - he is having an amazing year with nowhere near the craziness we've seen with Trout. I realize that isn't a perfect comparision because of the markets they play in and the fact Trout is doing it in his age 20 season but I bet McCutchen's stuff would be much higher if he was a rookie this year as opposed to someone in his 4th season (even if his rookie year came when he was 25).

In reference to the David Wright comment, I am really shocked how a guy playing in NY can still be so underrated - both inside and outside the hobby.

The markets play a HUGE factor, especially when it comes to cards of Yankees, Angels, Red Sox, and Cubs. Said fans pay out the nose for any young prospect... and to put up the numbers that Trout is putting up at age 20 for one of said teams, it all comes together for skyrocketing prices.

Im also confused as to why there are some nice graded refractors and Xfractors that are sitting there for just a little more than a raw base auto is going for...The scale of economies dont add up for the raw base to be going that high if those graded parallels arent moving where some of them are currently listed/ending.
