Vitters was a free-swinger when the Cubs drafted him. Almost never walked. 5 years later, he's finally taking some walks (28 so far - new high for him) and is having his best season yet.

Plate discipline isn't much of a concern in the low minors when the hitter in question has a .991 OPS and 19-years old. If pitchers are dumb enough to give him pitches to hit he's gonna mash it. Until it adversely affecting his performance or he's swinging at too many pitches out of the zone, let him continue doing what he's doing.

And with due respect JP, Josh Vitters is no Javier Baez.
