Not good...

Brett Anderson departed Saturday's start after just 80 pitches with tightness in his left (throwing) elbow.
Anderson limited the Indians to three hits and one earned run before he was lifted. The A's haven't given word on the severity of the injury, but let's hope all is well. The sophomore is off to a killer start this season after posting a 1.28 WHIP and 150/45 K/BB ratio in 175 1/3 innings last year.

Brennan Boesch will get his seconds big league start for Detroit tonight after a solid 2 for 4 debut last night including a long double off the opposite field wall. Looking forward to seeing what he does on day 2.

Lance Berkman just sent a line drive into Pirates starting pitcher- Chris Jakubauskas's face! :benson: :o He immediately fell to the ground laying face down & flailing his legs about in pain (it made my face hurt just seeing it :x OUCH!).... Upon rewinding it & watching it again, you can hear the meaty thud as the ball smashed into his face & then ricocheted off of his face & flew back to the catcher, no lie) :o

He sat there spitting blood into a towel as they brought the cart out for him (Berkman stayed in the vacinity the whole time & even went over & patted him on the back as he apologized, real stand-up guy). Sad thing is C.Jakubauskas was called up from Triple-A for this game to make a spot start & wasn't even able to make it out of the 1st inning (that is really a downer & probably will hurt him moreso than the line drive did).

Here's to a clean bill of health & a speedy return for the rook-
Chris Jakubauskas!!! :D

Pettitte is on absolute fire this season, today's line: 8IP 6H 1R 0BB 8K

Only 4 runs allowed on the season in 28 innings..

Cano went 4-5, up to .369

Gardner with his 9th SB, had a triple today and raised his season average to .340

I guess it's better to get hurt in the majors than the minors. It seems like there would be better compensation and medical treatment.

Was at this game today! Trying to hit as many park in the Midwest as I can while I'm out here for work. This game was well worth sitting out in the cold!

Orioles leave Brian Matusz in 1 inning too long AGAIN. After he pitches a gem. Gives up 2 hits in the seventh. Bring in Matt Albers to promptly give up a 3 run bomb to Marco Sucttero of all people. Jeez the Orioles are awful.

And Mickolio gives up a three run shot to Youkilis. Matusz performance turns into a 7-3 deficit in the B7

Trembley better be fired on Monday... This has just gone on too long.

Unexpected pitchers' duel in Arizona. But both teams bullpens have been terrible, so it could still get over 10 runs.

Nice 1st game back for Lilly, and now "little" Z is in...

Meh, he obviously has no confidence in his bullpen, and its evident that he is correct.

So ruining a good young pitchers confidence because your bullpen is horrible is a good thing in your eyes? Its not like they have anything to gain, but by continuing to put Matusz in these spots only hurts. If you managed this way I would say you needed to be fired as well.

Its all about if he is still in place to win games or to develop the team. Two completely different ways to manage a team.
