they are a lock with Cliff Lee, they should stop toying around and nab him right now. dont say "we are full now, but will get him in the winter" another big market team is going to make a sweep then and get him.

anyways, Pujols with a homer today.
Milton Bradley heating up.

I read that the Yankees said they were basically going to dump him at the season and get Lee... thats a load of BS if you ask me. its just as bad tossing him to the side out of the blue as it is to tell the world he is gone (no matter how good he does) at the end of his contract.

they are going to miss out, as it looks like the Dodgers are interested.

I have to disagree. I do not want to see the Yankees give up Montero just so they can get Lee a couple months early. Now if a starter is to get hurt of an extended amount of time I may change in opinion.

I've read that the Yankees are fundamentally against the idea of paying twice for these guys by giving up the prospects and then having to pay market value to resign them, when they can just wait and outbid everyone else in the offseason. I believe it because they actually have a track record of it with Sabathia, Santana, Halladay, and Teixeira.

yep, that would be really dumb to do. the only reason they would want to make the trade is if they are confident that Lee wont even be around in the offseason. a team like the Dodgers or BoSox could get him and immediately resign him to a big deal.

if the Yanks dont see this happening then they can get him next year for no players. they just seem a little overconfident right now.

Cliff "I can't pitch on short rest in the World Series" Lee?

I'll be happy if the Yankees get him but not deeply disapointed if they don't.

In other words "Dont trade for Cliff Lee!!!"

I don't see why Lee wouldn't got to the NL in Free agency. I'm surprised that evry pitcher isn't dyeing to go to the NL.

And, what the Twins wanted for Santana was total BS. Cano and Hughes PLUS others. Wher exactly are the players that the Twins got from the Mets at now?

Shouldn't your title be Cliff "I schooled the Yankees in the 2009 World Series" Lee?

2-0 1 CG, 16 IP 13 K 2.81 ERA

Don't act like you couldn't use Cliff Lee. Everyone could use Cliff Lee.

Of course the Yankees can use Lee. But it is not necessary. They have a productive starting five, with each starter having at least six wins this year.

Wouldn't the Phillies have had a better chance of winning if he had pitched in game 4 and got the win? He then could have pitched in game 7 as well

Would the Phillies winning game four have changed the series?.

Sabathia, Pettitte and Burnett pitched on short rest almost all of the postseason for the Yankees. Cliff Lee couldn't pitch on short rest ONCE?

I'll take players that will go out and compete for there team, no matter the circumstances. No wonder the Phillies traded him.

BTW, I'm not "acting like the Yankees couldn't use Cliff Lee" I'm saying they shouldn't trade for him. If it costs the Yankees any prospects it's not worth it.

I think they would take that deal fast unless there were tons of teams in the mix of they think they could really push for more.

the Ms are out of the playoffs, and Lee cant be resigned.. which leaves the only value in him is getting rid of him.

the Ms might have the worst Catching Minor league + Major league in the entire game right now, and thats what they want to strengthen.
I could picture another team with slightly better and more players on the table but they take the deal with a catcher instead.
