Is it just me, or does Domonic Brown's swing seem like one big hole for pitchers to feast upon? It reminds me of Ben Grieve, who was also thought of as the next big thing once upon a time.

I disagree with Brett Jackson. Yeah, he's a solid prospect, but he's ranked just about right. While he does have solid tools, no tool is above average, and he still Ks a considerable amount for a guy who doesn't have a lot of power.

Not saying he won't be a big leaguer or anything. Just saying that ranking is more accurate than you think IMO.

I agree with Moosetacos being too low. He's got a ton of power and (correct me if I'm wrong) a legitimate chance of making the club out of ST. From what I saw in the futures game, he's got a great glove. Stats and scouts agree he can mash a baseball. I don't know why he's not a top 5 guy.

Furthermore..

I also fall into the category of "people who think Hellickson is too high". He's great. He really is. He'll probably be a top of the rotation kind of guy. Better potential than Harper? Nope. Even if Harper flops, he's still a better prospect at this point than Hellickson. The dude can straight up rake.

I'd say it's something like this..

1 Trout
2 Harper
3 Brown
4 Moose
5 Montero
6 Helly
7 Teheran
8 Myers
9 Hosmer
10 Taillon

That'd probably be my top 10. I only put Moose ahead of Montero because he actually has a position that he can hold onto for the long-term, and he's good at it.

John Lamb is underrated.

Why? Raw power, good plate discipline, very young and projectable.

Brett Jackson made it and he doesn't have/project to above average power OR plate discipline.

The list was made by MLB scouts, Sale has zero pro experience where as Jackson does, he also has college, and Cape League experience. He isn't totally projection. He hit almost .300 overall last year in Minors.

You make a great point in your first sentence that I completely overlooked.

That being said, Ben Revere hit .305 in 2010 in the MiLB. I know, apples to oranges, but average isn't everything.

But thank you, for providing the reason for my ignorance in a nonchalant way. I kinda feel dumb now. ::facepalm::

Brett Jackson also has one and a half seasons worth of games to go on. Not to mention he played the second half of last year in AA. Josh Sale hasn't played a game yet. I will repeat that statement for emphasis.......Josh Sale hasn't played a game yet of any kind. 'Raw and projectable' doesn't always translate into actual production. We will see with Sale.

A good comparison would have been someone complaining that Anthony Rendon wasn't ranked.

So do you object to Jameson Taillon's ranking? He hasn't played a game yet.

Don't feel dumb, I think everyone takes these lists way too personally. The MLB Network one gets dumped on a lot, but it is legit scouts who earn their living watching baseball that make the list. Emotion and investment in cards I think weights far too heavily on here in people's reactions.

I'd say his projections are fairly higher than Sale at this point.

Agreed, just pointing out the flaw in the justification for leaving Sale off the list.

Sale was described as having perhaps the best bat of all HS draftees. To me, that's worthy of being on the back half of a top 50 list, especially over guys like Arencibia among others.

But having the best bat in a draft that was considered a weak hitting draft isn't saying a ton.

He would definately be in mine.

And you are? And where do we buy your book?

But seriously, comparing Taillon and Sale is hilarious. How many teams passed on Jameson Taillon?

Sale's bat is all projection. Remember last year's Top HS Bat? Bobby Borchering. Was outproduced by fellow teammate and HS draftee Matt Davidson, not to mention passed by Trout, Myers, etc. The initial rankings don't mean anything.

I would not be surprised if Cashman had the opportunity to take either one of them today if he picked Hellickson. Same with the Rangers

It's laughable that Hellickson is 2nd overall. Any GM who would take him over Harper would be fired instantly.

What?
