ESPN's Chris Mortensen:

Pete Carroll is the guy Seahawks are targeting. It is expected to happen, according to sources. Just reported to ESPN 10 minutes ago.

He has the easiest job in college football, why blow it for another failed attempt in the NFL?

He seems happy w/ USC so I would imagine this move will cost the Seahawks.

He's definitely making great money at USC. However, if he was getting back into the pro's, Seattle, with 2 1st rounders, might be worth looking into. The pressure to win right away won't be as high as his previous jobs, since they have to re-tool some areas on that team.

If Seattle is willing to cough up enough money to lure him away, it's probably a coin flip whether he stays or heads to the Northwest.

Maybe the allegations and things going on with the USC sports program will influence this. If something happens to the football team then he'd be coaching for nothing. HE can get out now and get a good contract and a semi-stable job.

My thoughts exactly Nate. I'll set the over/under on the announcement that the NCAA is investigating USC at 3 months and take the under.

Too bad for him he didn't leave last year, when all those defensive players from SC would have been available to draft.

Still think he'll regret it later, as Chris said being a top tier coach at college is much better than being just another pro coach. I think he wants another shot at proving he can do it in the pros because he thought his run earlier, especially in NE, was just bad timing, and looked worse because of their success before and after him. I do know he thought the old Patriots owners torpedoed him near the end. Seattle probably isn't as bad as their record indicates and with lots of high picks coming up, he must think they're poised for a quick turnaround.
