Berroa Fan Club arrived today, so no need to share the scan again from yesterdays post.
This is the 4th or 5th Furillo like this i have won. They have all been /5 and I believe we issues across at least 2 products/years. Technically overpaying for a fancy cut signature 3x5, but they are still kind of cool and have all been relatively inexpensive considering Furillo died in 1989.
Mostly obscure guys. Seller was just blowing out 8x10s. The cards I was slightly more select on, but mostly fairly cheap. Nice bulk add. There are a few more too, need another post.
Urias /15 and Podres /24. Heard Urias may be reinstated, but doubt his career will resume of Trevor Bauer is any litmus test. I do enjoy grabbing cheap autos that were once much more expensive though, even if their careers are probably over.
This is less impressive w/o showing each photo, but got 3 lots of Dodger 8x10s. I think each had 11-12 photos per, so about 30-35. I didn't need any of the autos, but a nice variety of players and images. The seller didn't have a shot of all photos together, so just showing 1 per lot because I am lazy!
I don't even know if there are other versions. In the past, there would be 1/1, 1/3. 1/9, 1/27, 1/36. Not sure they still do that as i have only seen this and maybe a /3? This is /9.
Justin Dean crosses off a need from the current Dodger roster for autos.
As much as I do still enjoy adding these newer Garvey cards with their manufacturer scarcity built right in, there is something a whole lot more fun in finding older oddball items that were not meant to be scarce, but now sometimes are just due to normal collecting habits of the past.
I like to maintain a mix of new and old, but given the choice of only one, I would continue only with old stuff.
Triple, which I discovered I already had. Still a nice triple.
Then three cheapies. Didn't have Crowell, but he never made the big club. He is still with them, so who knows. Proctor had a bunch of certified autos as a prospect, but none as a Dodger that I have seen. He did go 5-0 with the Dodgers as a reliever across 2 seasons 2007-08.
Another different Leaf Garvey/Sax pairing, this one /5
Finally grabbed a Dodgers Edman. His Dodger cards were npt cheap and still aren't as far as I am concerned, but they are finally coming down into a reasonable (relative) range. I had added him when he joined the team, but it was a Cardinals card. When I can, I will upgrade to a Dodger card. The purple is /250.
Wallach green /99. Remember that guy who was "trying" to get every copy of every Tim Wallach card? Good luck with that one friend.
Going to share this in the Dodger thread, because I recently lost out on a Vault Robby 5x7 Auto /40 (that I already had), but rarely ever see. This is a 5x7 Lite Beer card presumably used for promotions/appearances and is signed by Frank.
Going to start with a non-card item, which I usually end with. This is, what I believe to be, the jersey kids would get when they joined the Dodgers Pepsi Jr club. The only hesitation I have as this seems to be a pretty high quality jersey for what it is and they normally give away cheap crap. This was the 70s though. This thing is coming in all the way from Australia too! Very excited to add this to me Dodgers Pepsi Club collection. I wore the seller down, having offered more the last time, but it remained unsold and they kept dropping the price. Not too many buyers like me around, I guess.
Couple Garvey dupes, /50
A pair of Outman Trophy cups autos
Tommy John
A few TTM/IPs
Erskine Archives blue /25. This took me a long time to land. Saw a BIN and jumped on it, although it was higher than an Erskine would have normally sold for. Didn't want to miss another chance though. Sometimes you just have to pay.
To complement Oisk, I also got an Orosco archives blue /25
One more, but exceeded the 109 scan rule. Al Oliver Heritage. Pretty sure I had this already, but recent Heritage autos have been tougher to win. Maybe more folks appreciate the 70s designs more than before. have not won any 76 design signatures yet, but the checklist is not exciting for me either. Pages was the one I thought I might win, but even his cards are steep in this set. No retired Dodgers that I recall seeing.
