Stuff like this sometimes starts to feel like it's heading towards the stalker side of the spectrum, but still something interesting for the collector who has most of what is out there.

This is a 1966 High School Yearbook from Chamberlain, FL, featuring senior Steve Garvey. Not Garvey's personal copy, nor is it signed by him (that would have been extra cool), but it features 8-10 pages of his HS accolades and his senior picture. it was cheap enough to not sweat the buy, as i have seen several of his HS Yearbooks that have sat unsold at much higher prices. This one is in decent condition. The pages are separating from the spine, but the book itself is in overall nice condition otherwise.

This was a surprise BO/BIN I came across and snagged it immediately w/o even a 2nd though or lower offer, as the price was already fair. It's former Dodgers manager Davey Johnson on his Timeless teams gold autographed card /5. I will always buy these gold cards when the prices are right.

Bob O'Brien. Don't see a lot and I believe he is still alive, so might just be elusive. With all the people who like multi-signed cards, figured I'd see more with him and Hough if he were easy. Strahler died a decade ago.

Garvey /5. i need to check and see what all i have picked up. Lots of different ink colors and serial numbers that I am no longer fanatical about chasing them all down.

Really wanted one of these and definitely overpaid in order not to miss my chance. Have a hand full of various base buyback Garvey cards from over different issues, but this was my first heritage base buyback. The 77T was always one of, if not THE favorite Garvey cards ever made.

Aiden West. This is a new one, if he makes the team someday, i'll have him scratched off the list already.

3 sets of Dare/police featuring Fred McGriff, 2003 I think. These never had years or stats on them, so makes ID trickier. you need to narrow it down to a specific player that determines the year, if you are able.

Making some headway on the remaining Heritage holes, slowly. 77 Auto and the Dual relic with W. Smith /77

Kuo. Have to fight for his autos more than I feel I should, given the career he had. Asian players seem to be in higher demand for commons.
Kuo - MRM.png
Sublette. Has never played a game for the Dodgers. Was 8-3 for the AAA team last year, but he may be done.
Sublette.png

Brasier. This is one I still need. I have grown very suspicious of non-certified autos lately. 10 years ago i had no issue buying most. I don't know if I am just becoming more comfortable buying certified cards when i can, the fraud has increased or I am just more paranoid. I never spend much on the ones I do buy that i am not 100% certain on. Hopefully its legit.
Brasier.png

Lastly a 79 program with a handful of autographs in it. nobody amazing, but it was cheap and I have a lot of old programs and signatures form this era. Never mind adding either to the collection. Sigs include Dusty Baker, Kelly Snider, Charlie Hough, Lance Rautzhan, Bobby Castillo & Bob Welch, the last 3 of which are now deceased.

Pre-production 1/1. These Leaf 1/1 pre=production/promos are out of hand (too many and some weird crap they are including with the players), but will still grab them on the cheaper end of the scale.

I am nearly certain I had this already, but it was a BO that was in the cheap enough range for dupes to be OK. Nomar on his Classic 4 Sport certified auto.

Henriquez. Wish card makers would share the wealth. They seem to pick a couple of new prospect types and blast autographs, leaving out the rest of the team mostly. I am glad he got autographed cards, but do we need 100 different?!

There is so much good about this card. I never loved it, but a lot of people really like the image. This is a 74 Topps buyback that was stamped and signed /74. Had one already, but for the right price, I'd pick up dupes of this one all day.

Perhaps a somewhat unknown Dodger PC variation. Some have a Pepsi Logo on back under the name. Don't see them all that often and unsure if multiple player have them or not. I don't recall now. This one has seen better days, but they show up so seldom (or at least I notice them less), so I went for it anyway.

More Garvey. i hate to even admit this after all these years, but unless it's something really neat now days, I have grown a bit bored of most new additions. The card makers seem to be targeting a completely different audience these days and I am not sure they know it or if it is wise move or not. The new shiny stuff is growing more and more uninteresting. I can't quite seem to sever ties completely, but I think the Garvey collection is quickly winding down to an end. The same old stuff in a variety of foils and prism designs is just too much anymore. Bring back pain card designs, backgrounds, images. Octopi in the background never belonged on a MLB card and which bonehead at Leaf thought it did?

Heritage always excites, but those have been getting harder to get. The Freeman/Garvey rip card i was not able to land was another I really wanted, but only to a certain extent. I am still not going to be an idiot and pay way too much for something just because I feel I need to have it. I have always remained budget conscious throughout my collecting years. Items need to come at a price I am comfortable paying, unless it is something really, really special and then I may splurge. What exactly is that? Not sure, but I'll know when I see it.

Another 1/1. I do like this design. It's loud, but in a good way.
Garvey Colors 1-1 - MRM.png

This is also a 1/1. I do enjoy a good multi-player card, especially the old style. Leaf has ruined this concept though, as they have with many of their sets/concepts. Yet, i still buy their crap. At least the money goes to resellers and not those clearly detatched people directly.

First one 0f these I have seen of Garvey, so instead of trying to get a deal, I bit on the BIN. For an 86 Topps card, and one that isn't mint, I overpaid. Thankfully it was not too terrible considering. I think these might have been in those holiday Advent packages. I won't chase more at higher prices, but if I can find a deal, will chase others.
