Hey J.P. Thanks for posting this. It was good read! Where would you have put Ryan Kalish on the Red Sox list? I know he made the BA Prospect Hot-Sheet a few times. He's a local guy here and a friend of a co-worker. I always like to send the co-worker stuff when I see Kalish's name. Thanks!

Kalish would be in the early teens for me.

And FYI, after more research, I have added Rizzo to the Red Sox list.

Wow Posey over bumgarner.

What do you see in Ehire Adrianza? And who is #5

Adrianza reportedly has excellent defensive skills and a good bat to go with it. As for # 5, it sounds as though you need to do some research on him, young Giants fan. :)

Great work, J.P.

Any additional info on Chris Archer ? I'd like to know since we share the same last name :D

Again, thanks for the time and effort put into the list :P

I’ve actually known about him since he was in the Indians’ system and thought he could be a diamond in the rough. I think he could be the real deal.

I think Tim Beckham ends up a lot higher than 4th on the BA Rays list - any reason you don't like him as much?

He’s reportedly put on weight and has struck out more than people expected. He’s also likely to change positions before long. For the life of me, I can’t figure out why the Rays took him over Posey. But then again, these are the same guys who drafted Wade Townsend in the 1st round, so……..

Big fan of wheeler, do you see him sticking as a giant?

i know its a little much to ask, but you think you could do a projected roster/line up for like 2013

I watched Chris Archer in high school and knew he was going to be special. I mentioned him in a thread a while back about the Bowman Chrome checklist and I think it may have helped spark JP's interest in him. I don't know that for sure obviously, but a reminder is always helpful anyways when an obscure name is having a fantastic season.

Archer has some pretty bad control problems but he is what we'd call "wildly effective", in the sense that since he doesn't always know where his pitches are going neither do hitters. This has resulted in a high number of strikeouts in a low number of innings. Because of his propensity to get into bad counts and subsequently pitch his way out of them, his pitch counts for games have been incredibly high.

His fastball sits around 90-92 MPH and has been clocked as high as 96, but it's a straight pitch without a whole lot of life. His best pitch would be without question his power breaking curve. He throws it in the high 70's to low 80's and gets a hard bite on it.

He has incredible stuff and perhaps one of the best raw arms in the Cubs system at this point, but he still has a long way to go in order to be an effective future starter. The control problems are still very prevalent and concerning, but the strikeout numbers are too much to ignore. At worst, he's probably a long reliever in the making. At best, I would say he has 2nd or 3rd starter potential. There is very little chance he develops into an ace, but provided he learns to gain better control of his pitches while still maintaining that "wildly effective" style, he should be moved quickly.
