I am with some of the others on here. Busting wax, at least in the quantities that I did. A total waste of money. I have wasted WAY WAY too much money, and think about how great my collection would be if I would have spent more wisely.

Selling my collection right after the baseball strike. I had auto'd OMLB balls of all the 500 HR hitters except Ruth & Foxx, a complete place setting from Mickey Mantle's rest., Gil Hodges auto'd '69 Mets yearbook (this hurts the worst :( ) three Nolan Ryan '68 Topps RC's.
I'm going to stop there before I get really depressed. :(

I try to live with no regrets, collecting included. I've sold off some cards i've searched years to attain, but my collection is not a priority compared to my and my family's well being.

I have realized that i'm having a hard tome becoming attached to cards anymore. I'll get excited and fight for something, but once its in hand, I admire it for a moment or two before storong it indefinitely.

I guess art, music, education, and work take priority for 10 months a year. And between football ending and badeball starting, thats my sweet spot for collecting.

I realize I just went way off topic lol. I'll stop here and repeat I have no regrets.

Soryy again lol

I don't really have any true regrets either. Its more of a "What would I have done differently" approach.

I'm not buying what I can't afford. I don't plan on ever selling anything unless my kids absolutely don't want it, and am at the age to downsize my life so my kids won't have to deal with it.

Collecting Andruw...apparently an Andruw collection is a joke now-a-days.

Some of you guys speak of not collecting during the late 90s. You do realize that cards then sold for way more than what we are getting them for now? Sure, some of them are hard to find, but I remember paying 90 bucks for a zenith diamond and now they barely hit 20. I remember select mirror golds were 80 bucks, now they can be had for 5-10. Heck, one was found in a dollar box!

I regret selling a portion of my Bagwells in 99 to help pay for my wedding. Based on what I paid for them, I took a hit. But luckily I have been able to pick some of them up for even less than what I sold em for.

Unfortunately for me, the wheelchair lift for my van broke and if I didn't get it fixed I couldn't go to class. I was the first huge Catricala prospector, and he was the first person I was legitimately excited about collecting since I came back. I had to sell the following cards, and only paid for half of my lift. I have tried multiple times at getting them back but the people are sold to don't want to sell.

One of them is the red one of one, the other is the only refractor I have seen. I also sold for gold refractor's and five blues.
Ouch man thats rough!

Boxes may have been a lot more expensive back then, but a lot of those Super Sweet 90's Inserts were a lot easier to find back then! I cringe at the thought of the amazing cards I once had, stuff I didn't realize was going to be near-impossible to find at some point down the line. I distinctly remember buying lots of Pacific Platinum Blues for next to nothing, and even though I knew they were mostly /67, I had no trouble finding them. Same thing with 1996 Studio Silver Press Proofs; had a handful and didn't have any problem getting them. All these years later, as these cards find their way into permanent collections (or are rotting away in boxes in terrible card shops), and the unopened product dries up, all we can do is post about how much we miss all this stuff! :D

I've mentioned mu biggest regret a few times before. In 2001, I sold 80,000 cards (the bulk of my collection, mostly base and low-level inserts/vintage) to a shop for $75. One of those cards was a 1990 UD Mike Witt Black Box ::facepalm:: I had picked it up in the mid 90s at a local mall show from a big NY dealer; didn't know its true value, just knew it booked for $10 and mine wasn't in great shape. Ouch.

He may not be a hobby stud now but I loved watching him play in his prime. He's on my list of players to acquire an auto of.

My biggest regret would be buying ANY packs or boxes starting in the early 90s. Just a complete waste.

As a side note, I was wise enough (or broke enough) to not start buying any stupid game used cards when they first came out.
