My mail delivered but not to me?

I was going over my purchases for December and it appears that two items I won on eBay were delivered (according to tracking), but I never got either of the packages.

They were shipped around the same time, so I'm guessing they were in the mail the same day and something happened. I have no idea where they are, I've checked all likely places and with no luck, so I am left wondering what happened to them. I live in an apartment and my mail is delivered to a secure lock box. I have had no other issues (neither before nor after) with getting my other packages.

I will be going to my PO this week to ask them what they think may have happened, but does anyone have any idea what may have happened here? And do I have any kind of recourse at all or am I going to be out of luck if the packages never turn up?

They were both about $10 cards, so at the very worst it seems I will be out about $20 from this situation. I'd just like to try to understand what happened so I can avoid this in the future, especially with bigger purchases.

Same thing happened to me last week. Not sure what to do about it. Delivery confirmation says it was delivered, but I never received it. Pretty frustrating. Always makes me wonder what exactly is the point of delivery confirmation?

It's sad but IMO the P.O. will just shine you on...They are all waiting
for their pink slips anyway, so they don't care at all.

same thing happened between 200lb and myself. i believe his mail was delivered to a similar mailbox. most likely they went to the wrong box.

Good luck. Hopefully your neighbors are honest. Moved in early October to an area notorious for mishandled mail. It finally got to the point that I filed a complaint with the local Postmaster.

Long story short, 4 of 8 eBay wins got delivered to wrong addresses. Fortunately someone brought me my stuff. The carrier was looking at the house number only and delivering to a house 5 miles away. The only things about our addresses that matched was the house number and city/state/zip. The week I made the complaint I had more mail delivered to the wrong address than mail properly delivered.

What bailed me out was having tracking numbers and the person receiving my mail to confirm the story. When I talked to the Postmaster they checked the tracking and knew it was not possible for me to get my mail when it shown as being delivered.

The thing that irks me most is that even with insurance on stuff I would be up a creek as everything was listed as delivered. Fortunately the Postmaster addressed the issue and I have had no issues with my last two deliveries.

Happens to me on occasion. Wife and I live in a condo complex with a secure lock mailbox at then end of the complex. Often mail gets put in the wrong box. Usually, I just take it to my neighbor, but not everyone does that, and there are several vacant units. If it gets put in the mailbox for a vacant unit, I could be SOL. Sometimes we even get mail for our unit number, but an apartment complex that is gated about a mile down the road. I just drop those in the mis-delivered box at the post office the next time I go. Good luck in locating them!

I had it happen once where a package was shipped and delivered to the wrong state. It even showed the path all the way to delivered to someone in North Carolina...I was living in Georgia at the time.

Was able to get a refund but still very frustrating. Still haven't another copy of the item since then.

Thanks for the replies guys. Seems like it's pretty obvious that this is a PO issue, and I'm just happy it was only twenty dollars of stuff...just kinda sucks that I don't think there's much you can do about this so I'm kinda hoping they somehow turn up. I still have yet to talk to my neighbor to whom some of my packages had been delivered before, so hopefully they ended up in front of her door and she picked them up and has them. We'll see.

Update on this, the packages in question ended up in my box when the mail came yesterday. It was a week after the stated delivery date, but I'm very happy to have them in safely.
