Most of you are aware of the Golden Giveaway codes and the first 100 people to redeem 200 cards won a die cut set and a 1/1 golden moments card. Well i was lucky enough to be one of the people to win. When the Gold 1/1s started shipping i didn't receive email notification of shipping like many others and after a few weeks of everyone getting theirs i replied to the email of Topps rep Mark Sapir who had been updating all the winners on the status. We emailed back and forth he asked me if my address was correct. i informed him it was. So this was all going on right before the National and during the National.
One day after not hearing back from Mr. Sapir i thought to myself i wonder if they shipped it to my gfs house since i had my die cut set shipped there at the beginning of April. But i thought they couldnt have since i changed my account back to my address within a couple days of receiving that set and these gold cards didnt start shipping until three months later at the end of July. I figured i might as well check though. I was scared at the thought of if being there because by this point my gf had been living with me for about a month and noone was occupying her house. So i drive to her house before work the one day and sure enough sitting there in a weathered bubble mailer was my Chase Utley Gold 1/1. When i got to work i promptly emailed Mr. Sapir explaining that i received my card and explained that Topps shipped it to the wrong address.
Fast forward to today, i get a Topps bubble mailer in the mail and i think its just alexs64's Ethier that he asked me to redeem for him since he is moving. I open it up and there is another Gold embedded 1/1. My jaw hit the floor and i was like wtf? I was like how could they send me another one of these unless there were not 100 people who got the 200 cards redeemed. Either way i wasnt taking the chance so i emailed Mr. Sapir again explaining that they must have shipped a new one before they realized i had received my card even though i told them almost 3 weeks ago i got it. I offered to ship one of the two back to them and asked for an address to ship it to because i don't want someone who may have won it to be out a card. Still waiting on a reply, but dont think ill get one until tomorrow since its after hours.
Topps accidentally revealed everyone's email address in one of the WINNER emails they sent out and there were not 100 recipients so i'm pretty sure they didn't give out all 100 thats why they had one to send me. But i still wanted to offer to send one back since its the right thing to do. But flame away if you want because i will be sending the Utley back to Topps and keeping the new one they sent me.
