I wouldn't be all shocked if Peter Bourjos is involved in this also.

If he is then is Trout up by june, Wells can't play center anymore.

There are talking about a blockbuster deal, so i expect a few other names involved.

Wells had a great year, so it was probably the only chance for the Jays to get rid of his big contract. Good move if they want to spend this money to sign Bautista long term.

And i won't be surprised to see one of the Jays catcher prospects (Arencibia or D'Arnaud) part of the deal, as well as one of their young arms.

The Blue Jays outfield would be:

Travis Snider
Rajai Davis
Juan Rivera

with no depth whatsoever

If it's Wells and $25 mil like I've heard mentioned, I love this deal. It's ironic that the halos pulled the trigger before the select a seat appointments next week as well. Wonder if some people are going to decide to keep their seats this year. I'm expecting a big drop off, especially now that there is no All Star Game incentive to keep them and no big splash this off season, until now.

Almost sounds like Napoli and Rivera for Wells contract and Drabek.

Hella no! That would be extremely disappointing if Drabek was included considering that he was the main part of the Halladay deal.

Thank goodness that is not the case.

Wow.... This is amazing for the Jays. Dumping that Wells contract is a solid move for this club. It is not like the Jays were going to be in contention this year so this sets us up for the next few years even if we don't extend Bautista's contract.

The Drabek thing was just a stupid Twitter rumour.

Again, I love Vernon the person and even the player. I'll truly miss him. But Anthopolous deserves a statue out front of the Dome if all of this plays out as it's looking. Unbelievable.

I agree with you, he's one of my favourite players as well but this is great for the Jays going forward.

I thought I read that Conger handled the staff quite well. Wasn't be supposed to split time at catcher and DH, so it's not like he'll catch 140 games anyways.

David Campos said:
As a season ticket holder, I hate this deal but understand it. He was the only tradeable player they have since nobody is going to take Juan Rivera. Too many DH type players on the roster plus he will get a big pay raise with his arbitration hearing in the next couple weeks.

Mathis and Wilson have no trade value. Conger is not ready to handle the staff yet.

They'll end up with Podsednik or Damon if they can possibly move Rivera or this deal may be enough to allow them to sign another FA. Manny and Vlad are possible as well but I see Pods or Damon as a better fit.

Was told Jays aren't sending any money to Angels - just the albatross.

Law should know. I have to agree with Braden if this is true. Anthopolous just ***** the Angels. Napoli and Rivera can be flipped for something decent if they aren't in the Jays long terms plans. The Angels have a decent OF but for the price they are paying Wells....lets just say as a Rangers fan, I like this trade. :D

AA is a freaking god to me!

Everything in TO is saying Wells staright up for Napoli and Rivera.

AA FTW!

AA FTW Indeed..... I like how he has been treating the Jays like a Fantasy Dynasty Team. He knows his team can't compete right now so he dumping and rebuilding and choosing cheap talent to fill the void. Napoli should give the same power numbers as Buck did last year if he plays behind the plate which I don't know if he is going to and Rivera is not going to kill us offensively either. I would be shocked if the Angels are doing this trade without some sort of plan in the works as well.

It's official. No money going to LA. Astonishing.

This is how amazing this is: I could've talked myself into liking this if Drabek was going the other way. I could argue that Drabek is worth $86MM in savings. Unreal.

I hope Vernon hits .300/.360/.500 for the next four years. I really do. But he almost certainly won't and he's a liability in CF. I have no earthly clue what Reagins was thinking.

Emotional attachment to Vernon aside, what a wonderful day to be a Jays fan.

It is just amazing the Jays were able to shed the Rios and Wells contracts without picking up any bad contracts in return or pitching in cash in the deals.
