So, this Christmas, I want to get something awesome for my uncle. He is a big Dale Earnhardt fan. I have been slowly trying to get him into memorabilia collecting by splitting TTM returns and boxes of cards with him. This year, instead of getting him a few cheap hotwheels, I thought I could try to get him something he would really appreciate.

My goal is to make a creation that includes a Dale Earnhardt auto, and a cool looking insert or base card.

What I am planning on doing, is buying an un-cert auto on a cheap item (from a respectable seller, and possibly have a quick look done on it) and then sub it to BG and Leaf to have a cut made (it wouldn't be a 1/1, but it would be presented nice at least). I am considering making a display out of it, or having a small box built to put it in. The display is where the card would come in handy if I would decide to do that.

My question is, what should I buy, and does anyone have any suggestions on who to buy from? Cert would work too, but I want as cheap as possible. That way, it keeps the money low, and I won't feel as bad about having it cut up.

There are many autographs out there that people are selling in which they got signed TTM or IP at races. My suggestion as far as WHAT to get would be either a ticket stub or some sort of photo signed by him. I have seen many fakes out there so I would familiarize myself with his certified autographs.

I did a quick check on Ebay and what I saw was this: There are a few JSA certified autographs that are gonna run you between 130-170 if you aren't too choosy. I did see one certified autographed card from Press Pass of Sr. for about 170. Not a bad price if you ask me. Some of his autographed 8x10's are still quite pricey.

I would contact Strike Three sports cards out of West Virginia to see if they have anything you might be able to use. Those are the guys that had the dual patch card on ebay that was referenced earlier in this thread. I got a few things from them at the National and their prices are VERY reasonable. Perhaps you could pick up a nice piece from those guys.

Just be careful. There are alot of ********** that have fakes out there. I've seen them. Good luck.

Thanks for the info, Blanning, I will look into it.
