It is easy to forget this guy was a middle infielder his whole life. Definitely needs more time behind the dish.
Agreed. From BA's scouting report:

"Weaknesses: For all the strides Posey has made as a catcher, the mechanics of the position haven't become second nature yet. Passed balls have been an issue at times, and he has committed 15 in 120 pro games. The Giants want him to get stronger in order to handle the grind of a full season."

This is great news. Posey needs more time in AAA and this will help him develop more. No reason to rush the future.

Posey is not ready; plain and simple. He is having a hell of a time defensively and is far too prone to passed balls for the Giants liking. He was working on his footwork all winter and the Org. thinks he needs another 3/4 to full season in the minors. Keep in mind that Posey has only been a catcher for 4 years and this is a position that requires YEARS of experience to master. Posey is not a better option that Molina right now and the Giants had to bring in a polished catcher to handle the staff. This is a good move and Buster will be better off because of it.

You haven't seen Molina catch recently. It might take years to master but it only took him a couple of lunch hours to immobilize himself.

I've seen Molina plenty and he is twice the catcher posey is right now. Molina's only problem defensively is his hand speed..he has a hard time catching up to fastballs above his shoulders. Cain really tests him. His footwork is extraordinary. For as slow as he is he should lead the league in passed balls but his footwork allows him to overcome his slowness. Posey is horrible with his feet and I know for a fact that the Giants are talking about moving him from catcher right now. There has been talk about moving him to third base and the talks have gotten more serious since Benji resigned. Posey will start in Fresno and will get some starts at third.

He also cannot throw people out to save his life. He has gotten much worse behind the dish. Any talk of moving Posey is premature at best.
