Re: nick adenhardt killed!!!???

I would say that if someone has been convicted of a DUI in the past, that their car NEEDS to be equipped with some kind of measuring device that will make it impossible for them to turn on the car if they are over the limit.

Re: nick adenhardt killed!!!???

I hadn't heard about it until I had the Cardinal game on, and they had a moment of silence.

I was wondering what it was for. Then they said Nick Adenhart was killed, and my heart just sank.

Horribly awful news. I'm glad they caught the criminal.

Has anyone mentioned who the other Angel prospect was?

My thoughts and prayers are with Adenhart, and the 3 other victims.

It's none of anyone's business what anyone else sells on ebay as long as it is legal, up front and honest.

I agree with Chris... I didn't start this thread to talk about who is selling what... It was discuss a horrible event to a great young ball player... If Chris or anyone else wants to sell they should. It was their investment and their card and they can sell when they want... Just like some of you do for records...or hall of fame... or no hitters... death boosts a card value and death is an event that happens as sad as it is. Please keep this topic about nick and not his cards or who is choosing to sell them (which is up to them) if you dont like it, dont buy them.

If Chris wants to sell them, fine. But don't come here all high and mighty and tell us what we can and cannot discuss in this thread (I'm talking about Chris, not you), especially when it's a debate directly associated with what he's doing. Seems a little too hypocritical to me...

Nothing I have said has been hypocritical.

Tell us not to talk about selling after death, when you're doing exactly that is hypocritical.

You know damn well this has nothing to do with people "piling it on someone" on why you said that. You just did not want to see people get into this discussion. Hate to say it, it comes up EVERYTIME a player dies...EVERY SINGLE TIME. It was going to happen, it was going to happen in this thread.

You've been around the boards with these people long enough to know exactly how these things work.
I'll be the first one to step up for Chris and say he damn well was trying to stop bickering because people were piling on me for commenting with bits of information that they seemed to find offensive or irrelevant.

The conversation really should end.

I am not sure why it is not a requirement with anyone who has been convicted of a DUI.

I thought they do this in some states and the cost of installing it obviously falls on the offender.

This is terrible news. It has really got to me as the day has gone on and I just can't imagine what his family is going through. Just senseless.

Not sure. But I know for a fact in MA that nothing is installed into the car. A person very close to me got a DUI and for a while stopped drinking, but eventually the feat wore off and the alcohol remains part of the life. Instead of fining the person, just make them pay for the device.

and sly the auctions are there to help us get a good look at what is out there and help out collectors...

I have butted heads with chris several times in the past but there is nothing wrong with him selling something he owns whenever he chooses to sell it

I get why they're there...but don't tell us it's no one's business what people are selling, when this board makes it DIRECTLY people's business. And that is a direct quote Chris about not being other people's business. Guess what, ebay is a public selling site...it is EVERYONE'S business.

And again, see my other post with my issues. Personally, it's tasteless to do it now, but whatever...but don't get all hypocritical about it and tell us what we can and cannot say in a thread.

How does telling folks not to attack eachother in a thread about a players death have anything to do with selling something on ebay. I'm fascinated to see how you will tie the two?

Other than the fact it was not "attacking", but rather a debate about selling after death (see a quote from Chris below).

"This thread is not about petty squabbles over who sold what."

He was telling us not to have this discussion...not to not attack one another.

Mike S, just announced the Angels are canceling their game tonight.

Good. I am sure that many of the players' minds will not be on playing ball.

I know people who have had them on their cars, but I'm not sure of the circumstances. I think here it is part of a diversion program of treatment.

Also - ignition locks like this are far from foolproof. There's a way around almost any measure put in place.

A sad couple of days for native Marylanders. First, former NBA big man, Marvin Webster dies in Oklahoma on Monday and today Nick Adenhart. Thoughts and prayers to their families and friends.

But it is better than nothing. All it takes is keeping one person from driving under the influence for it to be worth it.

Or you can read what he wrote on page 5 and realize that he said that already and you are ignoring it. You are completely disrespecting everyone who is mourning Nick's death, and are truly making this tragedy even worse.

Please stop.

My prayers to go out to the Adenhart family and all those involved in the crash.

How about you guys agree to disagree?

I am sure if someone related to Nick Adenhardt saw this thread they would be disgusted that the topic of selling his baseball cards became the main discussion.

A tragedy like this should not turn into bickering!

Thanked.

Tragic, so young, such a bright future. :(

Yet you keep this going. I was responding to someone asking me to "clarify"...

...oh, and you may want to reconsider what is considered disrespectful to those mourning his death. One would think trying to cash in on the death is pretty damn disrespectful.

Now here is your chance to stop this...

Re: nick adenhardt killed!!!???

Personally, I think if you INVEST in a prospect and he dies, you are stupid NOT to sell.

I didn't buy them to admire the individual or his life. I bought them to make money.

It's sad when anyone dies, especially when it's sudden and unexpected like in a car wreck. I have lost several friends in car wrecks and written more than 1 eulogy. It's an awful experience. That being said, most of us wouldn't know Adenhardt from Joe Blow other than the picture on the front of a piece of cardboard. Everyone dies. I hope people can profit from my death, especially my family.
