I know, WTF???? I had a couple 2006 Bowman Draft Gold listed for like $1.49 or whatever, just like all of my other golds.

Some people are jerks, and this guy will NOT get his card.

I got a message from the Buyer:

Haha man this dude just died n a car crash and his shat is gonna skyrocket you beter send this to me real fast so i can sell it right away u should pay more attention to the news sucka oh yah if u dont send it i leave neg fdbk.

The nerve of some people....

WOW, now that is just unacceptable imo.

Re: nick adenhardt killed!!!???

I somewhat agree here. I actually am much less bitter towards the guys that invested heavily in Nick before he passed away in hopes of cashing in on his talent.

It's the guys that have a Bowman Heritage "RC" and a couple Topps Update cards and throw them up on the bay to make an extra buck or two that REALLY irritate me. Even the Topps Stadium Club "RC" auto...amazing what people will do for a couple extra double cheeseburgers.

SO what is wrong with selling his cards? Is everyone who has previously invested in him supposed to take the hit and call it a day? Seems like a very short sighted thought by some people.

It truly is a sad day for the Angels organization.
Its just not in good taste.

Ecspcially on the day of his passing.

Im sorry, but if this was Poreda I would have EVERYTHING on ebay right now. Im not willing to take a $3500 hit simply because he passed away. You invest in a person to make money off of them. This is just another way to make money off of the person. Weither people assume its bad taste or not, I could care less. My money is more important.

If you have a collection I would say that is different. I am more talking about people listing their one or 2 lone card of him that would be worth 5 bucks and now want 50.00 for theirs.

Re: nick adenhardt killed!!!???

RIP Nick... My prayer's & well wishe's go out to all of the family & friend's left behind for all of the victim's of this senseless crime!
This may not be a popular idea (because so many individual's drink alcohol, which I've been sober for over 3 & a half year's now) but I think there is no use or sense for our government to continue to keep alcohol legal (what purpose does it serve & what good comes from it?). There is an irony to allowing establishment's to serve alcohol (bar's, restraunt's, etc.) and having a supposed strict law on drinking & driving, which the sole purpose behind it all seems to be just another way for the government to make money (if they were serious about stopping, or at least cutting down immenseley, the populous from drinking & driving they would outlaw bar's & discontinue restraunt's to serve alcohol; but in doing so they would take a HUGE hit in thier expense account as DWI's & alcohol related offense's are a key financial resource to our countries policing force).
I wish the family's the best & pray that they can get through this tragedy together! :(

Hey man I was thinking that earlier this year, it serves no good purpose and results in thousands and thousands of deaths each year...

I agree, and how much is he really going to make off a base card he'll have to wait about a week for.

The thing to do would be to wait as long as possible to send it, then when he lists it win the auction and don't pay. Then he can't leave you a neg for that and it'll get held up so long that he won't be able to profit on it at all.

Re: nick adenhardt killed!!!???

So a question for you guys....

I looked through my spring training stuff because I know adenharts name sounded familiar-

I have:

2 06 Bowman Draft IP autos
2 06 Bowman Chrome Draft IP autos
1 06 Bowman Chrome IP Auto
15 signed baseballs.

I plan on keeping one ball (as was my original plan) but I did get them signed as investments, because he was simply a prospect to me.

Great guy, genuinely cared about talking to me and finding out about my baseball career I had and have right now...

But would I be a "jerk" to sell this stuff right now???

There's another one that says "Free shipping for memorial" but I'm done posting the auctions of imbeciles.

I like how this guys lists his lot as a 1-day auction 7 minutes ago but in his subtitle he makes it look like he has no clue Nick has passed on *insert rolly-eyes here*

Or one guy with a subtitle of like RARE PROSPECT or something to that affect

To be fair - he could have scheduled the start time for the lot just to get a bit more exposure, rather than starting it after the game. Not saying he did that, but its possible.

Also, as for selling after something like this, I have mixed feelings. I hate the auctions that spring up with insane BINs, and subtitles about 'won't be signing anymore.' On the other hand, I have no problems with anyone who lists the card because someone else might want it. Selling is fine. Gouging and exploiting is what makes my stomach turn.

So you had no idea you had 15 signed baseballs of somebody whose "name sounded familiar"? Why the hell would you get 15 signed baseballs if you didn't know who he was?

YOu didn't pay him for an autograph. I wouldn't call that an investment. I don't think it would really be right of you to sell it.

Re: nick adenhardt killed!!!???

The funny part is.. the only people who are going to "profit from his death" are going to be the people who innocently had their BINs randomly hit. Something tells me that the guy who hit all the atrociously high BINs for all of those Stadium Club autos is going to be digging the spikes from his poopchute by the time he gets them in-hand to flip.

Re: nick adenhardt killed!!!???

On a different note, not related to ebay, and actually related to this tragedy, this is from the latest article on ESPN.com:

"The Angels, in a statement, said the female driver and another male passenger were dead in the Mitsubishi when police and firefighters arrived. The team said no other members of the organization were involved in the crash."

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4055343

Despite the earlier reports, sounds like Adenhart was the only player involved.

Sad day for all those killed...
