Re: nick adenhardt killed!!!???

If it hasn't it will be reported that he was drunk. People love to blame the athletes for everything. If I was his dad, I'd be plotting the death of the drunk driver. That's just me though.

Assuming you mean the driver of the "other" car...yes, it was reported he was drunk...

...and what would be the irony of the whole thing if he just came from a bar watching the Angels/A's game.

Its just me as well. It should be a Murder charge and he should face the death penalty...clearly the guy is a worthless human being.

I know it was reported. I meant that even incorrectly, Adenhart will have the blame of the wreck put on him, someone will get the story flipped. Check blogs and crap like that, someone will hear from their brother's cousin's uncle's well you get the idea.

Re: nick adenhardt killed!!!???

We think cards and people here in this forum are in it for community, the game, etc but many here are really, really focused on money aspect of the hobby plain and simple. Not that this is their fault, I'm sure a large percentage of people here rely on cards for their income. It is ALWAYS important to remember that HERE.

With all respect to Adenhart this is a card forum first and foremost. Its just real interesting to see what other people's priorities are, disturbing as they may seem. It tells us more about our hobby.

It's none of anyone's business what anyone else sells on ebay as long as it is legal, up front and honest.

I agree with Chris... I didn't start this thread to talk about who is selling what... It was discuss a horrible event to a great young ball player... If Chris or anyone else wants to sell they should. It was their investment and their card and they can sell when they want... Just like some of you do for records...or hall of fame... or no hitters... death boosts a card value and death is an event that happens as sad as it is. Please keep this topic about nick and not his cards or who is choosing to sell them (which is up to them) if you dont like it, dont buy them.

and sly the auctions are there to help us get a good look at what is out there and help out collectors...

I have butted heads with chris several times in the past but there is nothing wrong with him selling something he owns whenever he chooses to sell it

I get why they're there...but don't tell us it's no one's business what people are selling, when this board makes it DIRECTLY people's business. And that is a direct quote Chris about not being other people's business. Guess what, ebay is a public selling site...it is EVERYONE'S business.

And again, see my other post with my issues. Personally, it's tasteless to do it now, but whatever...but don't get all hypocritical about it and tell us what we can and cannot say in a thread.

How does telling folks not to attack eachother in a thread about a players death have anything to do with selling something on ebay. I'm fascinated to see how you will tie the two?

Other than the fact it was not "attacking", but rather a debate about selling after death (see a quote from Chris below).

"This thread is not about petty squabbles over who sold what."

He was telling us not to have this discussion...not to not attack one another.
Or you can read what he wrote on page 5 and realize that he said that already and you are ignoring. You are completely disrespecting everyone who is mourning Nick's death, and are truly making this tragedy even worse.

Please stop.

My prayers to go out to the Adenhart family and all those involved in the crash.[/quote:tchx1wtt]

Yet you keep this going. I was responding to someone asking me to "clarify"...

...oh, and you may want to reconsider what is considered disrespectful to those mourning his death. One would think trying to cash in on the death is pretty damn disrespectful.

Now here is your chance to stop this...[/quote:tchx1wtt]

oh my god. It was a horrible accident but thousands of people if not more drive drunk every day. I won't do it anymore but I did it all the time when I was in high school. Should all of us be put to death?

Clearly you are perfect and have never made a mistake if you have this opinion.

First off, I understand what your saying.

However, in todays society, drinking and driving is just as serious and malicious of an offence as carrying around a loaded weapon, perhaps even more so. If you use that loaded weapon and it results in anothers death. you should indeed be charged with murder and the death sentance is just part of that process for some situations.

Simply by grouping your self with 'thousands' who do/did it does not make light of the subject. If your mother or daughter was killed by a guy driving drunk, would you be so lax about the situation? It's no longer 'just a dumb mistake'. It's clearly making a choice to do something that can lead to murder, albiet under the influience, but thats your choice as well.

Do I thin he should be put to death? No, but should the chips fall where they may? I think so...

By the way, getting drunk is not an accident. Just because you choose to drive after that and subsiquentally kill someone does not equate to an accident eithor. If you choose to drive drunk, you choose to do whatever outcome happens, even vehicular manslaughter.

I would say that if someone has been convicted of a DUI in the past, that their car NEEDS to be equipped with some kind of measuring device that will make it impossible for them to turn on the car if they are over the limit.

I know people who have had them on their cars, but I'm not sure of the circumstances. I think here it is part of a diversion program of treatment.

Also - ignition locks like this are far from foolproof. There's a way around almost any measure put in place.

But it is better than nothing. All it takes is keeping one person from driving under the influence for it to be worth it.

Sad thing is that it is EASILY countered (I've witnessed it myself at a club several year's back) as they just get someone else to "blow" into the device (whether they pay them or not)... To me this is a waste of fund's, they need to either outlaw alcohol (which they lose major $$) or make the DWI policy one that is so strict that no one can afford to get one (ex. 1 DWI conviction & you can NEVER legally drive again)!

Unsure if posted yet, but starting to hear that Trevor Cahill was the fourth person (survivor).

Hopefully Dante Stallworth is charged equally for the same crime:

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1535 ... ed-equally

Already brought up. The other issue is that in Stallworth's case, the pedestrian was jaywalking and Stallworth didn't run.

I did not know of the jaywalking but I did note that Stallworth cooperated.

I would put that in your blog post. Because I have had a friend who hit and killed a jaywalking pedestrian once, and she was completely traumatized over that incident even though it wasn't her fault. It's possible that even if Stallworth hadn't been drinking that night that the same thing could have happened.

The problem with that is that many who have been convicted, will still go drive without a license.

There is no way to stop it without banning alcohol, and that will NEVER happen. You've got to hope that people will be responsible...which unfortunately there are WAY too many idiots in the world.

Re: nick adenhardt killed!!!???

Very sad news indeed. My heart sank when I heard this.

I think people should also be aware that people have their lives ended/cut short everyday because of DUI's and drunk drivers, not just top-prospect baseball players.

I think a prayer should also be given for those people as well.

(as someone already said, interlocks are in place but easy to manipulate. it couldve happened whether it was on the car or not)

Let's not start unsubstantiated rumors while at the same time not worrying about how other people conduct their business.

Hit and runs seems all to common here in LA. Just a few weeks ago, a USC law student was hit and killed by a car. The driver got out, moved the body from the hood, and drove off. There are bad people out there, and they're not the ones selling Nick Adenhart cards on eBay right now. Get some perspective people.

Agreed, and also to the families of those who have not yet been named publicly who were also killed in the crash.
